We are a loose collective of home-and-away Forest fans who were all at Hillsborough, all with our own personal stories and memories from that fateful day in 1989.  We’ve been proud of the atmosphere us Forest fans have created home and away this season, & the praise… #nffc #lfc
…we’ve received from opposition supporters for it, but, for us, the one blot on the copybook was the singing of “Always the Victims” from sections of our support in the game against Liverpool at the City Ground in October.  We know some of our fans argue this…
has nothing to with Hillsborough, but the connotation is undeniable, and whether it’s intentional or not, it does cause deep offence and upset, not just to the families and friends of the 97 and the wider Liverpool fanbase, but also to many Forest fans who were affected…
by what they saw that day too.  We felt we needed to take a stand and show our support to those who’ve suffered enough, so we will be raising this banner in the away end in the sixth minute on Saturday - Respect The 97, Solidarity With Survivors, No To Tragedy Chanting… Image
and we ask our fellow Forest fans to join us in a minute’s applause at the same time.  After that, let’s do what we do best - support our team loud and proud, and leave any tragedy mocking well alone.
We will be laying flowers at the Hillsborough memorial behind the Main Stand, as will NFFC officially, at 2pm. All are welcome to join us, LFC and NFFC alike. Image
Any support with helping the banner to ‘surf’ the Annie Road End would be appreciated. We’d like to to travel the whole ground, but that might not physically be possible.
Joining in respectfully with a minute’s applause at 3:06 would also be appreciated. Please note, there is also a planned minute at 3:12 for a young LFC lad who sadly lost his battle for life recently.
Visiting Forest supporters might also want to visit the memorial (Sir Kenny Dalglish Stand) to those who lost their lives at Heysel. We will also be doing this to lay a tribute. Note that the building works going on mean a detour to get to this.
This initiative now has be backing of both clubs and has all been worked through with numerous supporters of both, including Hillsborough survivors and family members of some of the 97. All we need now is to put on a show to be proud of, as have both Arsenal and Leeds recently..
… and come away with 3 points. COYR!
