It’s always great to see people come together to take care of our communities - even in the pouring rain!
Most of the litter today was #SingleUsePlastics and takeout containers. It will return again and again, unless we take action to reduce this waste at the source.
Our city needs solutions like #ReusableTO containers, sustainable packaging and small business supports to go green.
And there is so much more we can and must do to protect our environment and act on the climate crisis.
We can have reliable public transit, safe streets for cyclists and pedestrians, thriving green space, clean rivers, climate-ready communities, and good green jobs!
In the weeks ahead, I'll be sharing more about my lifelong commitment to the environment and how Toronto can make its comeback as a global leader on climate action. Stay tuned! #TransformTO#TOpoli
Toronto is losing affordable housing fourteen times faster than it is building it.
I’m committed to building hundreds of thousands more units of housing across the city (more on this to come!) and acting now to save the affordable housing we have today.
As your new Mayor, I will make a historic $100 million annual investment through the Secure Affordable Homes Fund.
This will stop renovictions by helping purchase, repair, and transfer affordable rental apartment buildings to community ownership.
On the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, I quote a message from @RAVENtrust

In jails around the country, Indigenous Peoples make up 37% of the prison population: many are incarcerated for the ‘crime’ of being impoverished or traumatized.

There remain 34 long-term water advisories in Indigenous communities: that’s generations of people in a developed nation living with contaminated water and the health impacts that come with it. 3/5
