Faith means complete trust or confidence in someone or something. Life is full of surprises and twists. There is no guarantee that we will get up next day morning after we go to sleep. We continue to retire to bed everyday with no doubts. Faith is something that helps to get on
with our lives amidst so many uncertainties. Faith is like an inner voice that keeps reminding us about the positive outlook of our life. This imaginary story emphasizes the importance of #faith.
It was a hot, hot day, and a man who lost his way in the desert was badly in need
of water to quench his thirst. He was afraid he may die due to dehydration.
As he struggled walking in the desert, he saw a small dwelling at a distance. Initially, he thought it was just an illusion. But he continued walking towards it, and as he reached closer, he realized
it was a hut.
He opened the door and found nobody there. He was surprised to see a hand water pump, and it had all connections intact and a pipeline to the ground.
Then he started pumping, and there was no sign of water. And he continued his effort and gave up due to exhaustion.
He started searching the hut for any other source of water. Then he found a bottle of water hidden in the corner. He was happy, and when he was about to drink the water, he found a piece of paper attached. It was written in the paper, “Please use this water to start the pump.
It works. After you have done, do not forget to refill the bottle again.”
After reading the message doubts started gnawing him.
- Will the pump work if I use this water?
- Is the pump in good condition?
- Can I trust the words in the paper?
- If it is false, then my last
source of water will get waste.”
He paused for a minute and closed his eyes, and prayed. The inner voice told him to pour the water into the pump and do as suggested. Soon, he heard a bubbling sound, and water started pouring out. There was a moment of relief on his face.
He drank the water and filled his bottle. Then he got refreshed and refilled the bottle from the hut. He felt so blessed. He stayed in the hut for some time and looked around. Then he saw a pencil and a map explaining the direction to the nearby village from the hut location.
He was happy that his #faith in the water pump worked. Similarly, he believed that the map would direct him in the right direction. Then he wrote in the paper, “Have #faith. It works.” And he kept both the bottle and paper to the exact place from where he took.
Happily, he left the hut.
The man understood, "God will not always favor us by doing what we want; but "He" will do what is right for us, though we may not understand at that point of time & will realize it later.
He also felt it is important to totally believe something in life - faith without asking questions - questioning everything, just for the sake of questioning is torture sometimes - as some people are also struggling by questioning everything.

This morning, on my way to work, I was stranded by an Uber auto driver in the middle of the highway.
I must have had a worried expression on my face, which made an old man driving a rickshaw stop and ask me where I wanted to go.
Skeptical at first, I told him
I needed to get to my office at the other end of town and that I was already late.
He said, "Please come in, ma'am. You can pay what you want" in impeccable English.
Taken aback by such kind behaviour, I said ok and what followed was a very enriching 45 minutes.
Of course,
as a researcher, I couldn't contain my curiosity and asked him how he spoke such good English.
To which, he replied that he was an English lecturer and that he has done his MA and M Ed!
He predicted my next question and asked me himself, "So you're going to ask me why I
Wonderful story!!!!!!!!!
After the death of a jeweler, his family was in grave trouble. They did not have enough money even for food. One day, his wife gave her son a sapphire necklace and said - "Son, take this to your uncle's shop. Ask him to sell it and give us some money."
The son took that necklace and reached his uncle's shop. His uncle looked at the necklace thoroughly and said - "Son, tell your mother that the market is very slow right now. If she sells it after some time, she will get a good price." He gave him some money, and further said,
"come and sit with me at the shop from tomorrow."
So, the next day onwards, the boy started going to the shop every day, and there he started learning how to test diamonds and gems.
Soon, he became a well-known connoisseur of diamonds. People started coming from far and wide
Bhagavan Ramana Maharishi’s response to his Mother when she pleaded with him to return to home with her... Bhagavan wrote a reply on a piece of paper. This reply to his mother is his first written teaching. He wrote
“The Ordainer, prevailing everywhere, makes each one play his role in life according to his karma. That which is not destined, will not happen despite every effort. What is destined to happen is bound to happen. This is certain. Therefore, the best course is to remain silent."
This looks like a reply rejecting his mother's pleas. However, these words bear a deeper meaning - 'That which is not destined, will not happen despite every effort. What is destined to happen is bound to happen. Then, what is the role of an individual?
Punjab is governed by a "opposition" party. Their CM vowed not one grain of wheat would be wasted in the Khariff crop. Punjab & Central Govt worked in tandem to harvest the crop. You probably know Punjab contributes 35% of our wheat
Usual seasonal migrant labour was missing. To compensate, people under MNREGA were mobilised by Centre. Fleets of combined harvesters were mobilised and escorted in convoys from elsewhere to Punjab's fields. FCI was mobilised. 2000 odd *additional* mandis were created to reduce
crowding and improve social distancing. Centre controlled Paramilitary forces worked with local police to control convoys of thousands of trucks and tractors conveying wheat from fields to mandi/arat and beyond to godowns. Harvesting started on 15 Apr and is continuing.
