Treasure baskets, pioneered by Elinor Goldschmied in post-war Europe, do not need any complicated/expensive equipment. You can put a treasure basket together with things you've found around the house, typically something easy to hold & manipulate & made of natural materials.
"What is the stone-ness of stone?" Children engage with materials in a deep sensory way & adults should think of the exploratory experience that a child can have while creating meaningful treasure baskets. Treasure baskets help children explore the world in a safe controlled way.
Multisensory play using TBs can start with seated babies as young as 5 months old! The best time for this is when the baby is settled and in a calm environment.
