Moving to Virtual First meant that we had to rethink our physical offices, so we spent the last few months optimizing our spaces to preserve team collaboration and human connection.
Virtual First is an approach that combines the best of both worlds—the flexibility of remote work with spaces optimized for purposeful teamwork. We still believe that in-person connection is important, so this is where Studios come into play.
Dropbox Studios are a reimagining of how we use our offices. While individual or deep-focus work will happen remotely, our Studios are intended for the in-person collaborating, connecting with colleagues, and community building we’ve all been missing.
In 2016, we posted a tweet about diversity at Dropbox with a tone-deaf photo that did not include diverse representation. More importantly, it reflected the real work we still have to do. We are very sorry.
As a company, we have not deleted the original tweet in the spirit of transparency and owning our mistakes.
We know we still have a long way to go, and we’re working to create a company that reflects our values and the world around us. If you'd like, you can read about some of our initiatives here bit.ly/2019DiversityR… and dropbox.foundation.
