This is a GOP-manufactured reckless, damaging crisis. It is not a @JoeBiden crisis. By centering Biden and omitting details about how the debt ceiling functions - and context the NYT protects the GOP.
“Barrels” because the @GOP is willing to destroy the American economy.

“Both sides-ism” hides and protects EXTREMIST GOP positions, harms and inability to govern.

These are institutional decisions to favor Republicans (at the expense of truth) by Editors esp @nycscribe

This OpEd by the leaders of @washingtonpost is a mess by design.

Because it’s impossible to critically discuss the hostage-taking by the GOP without centering 100% of the culpability on the GOP.

BUT here’s a “both sides”-palooza for the ages.

Reading the whole piece it is clear the Editorial Board sees the danger and hostage-taking for what it is.

This is NOT in the lead paragraph. It should be.

Quick reminder to the “Journalists don’t write the headlines”-apologist folks. In this case this piece is BY THE EDITORS THEMSELVES!

So unless #ChatGPT is now doing WaPo headlines this is inexcusable.
