Short thread on how you were hacked:
I recently saw that @MwangoCapital had been hacked although his account was restored. Of late I have seen several cases of people being hacked out of the blue and they then wonder how it happened.....
1. Some hacker somewhere got access to dumped databases of websites which were hacked in the past and it happened that you were a registered user of these websites. From here they get to your plain text passwords and just test them against several websites then login.....
Someone sent you a link promising you Bitcoins like @OleItumbi and while you were busy entering your email and password to get the freebies they got your email and password.
To prevent this if you use a laptop or desktop to browse ensure.......
That you are visiting the correct website. Ensure it has https:// and ensure the website spelling is the right on. You can Google the website if in doubt or install these browser addons in your browser........
Passwords can end up in a hacker's hands via PDF attachments with keylogger malware. Avoid suspicious downloads, keep your antivirus updated, and scan docs before opening. Stay protected with tools like Malwarebytes and HitmanPro.
Here are the download links to the instant malware scanners for Windows PC that I mentioned. Install:
Alllow security notifications for important social media accounts so that incase of a hack you can get notified as the hack is happening. Meanwhile enable two factor authentication via sms or use authentication apps such as, Google authenticator, Microsoft authenticator....
