Community Notes (@CommunityNotes) is arguably the best feature Twitter has ever produced.

A short thread 🧵 Image
For years the mainstream press could knowingly write bogus articles that would rack up tens of millions of views, with the goal of pushing a false narrative out to the world.
They knew that once the article hit the zeitgeist, the narrative would be set in stone. The damage was done. They could then quietly stealth edit the article or post a small retraction knowing full & well that the mission had been accomplished and no one would see the correction.
This tactic was used to great affect for years and led to some of the now infamous hoaxes (Russiagate, Russian Bounties, pee tape, & many more)
With @CommunityNotes this is now no longer possible. Liars such as @GlennKesslerWP & @mehdirhasan have recently tried their usual tactics only to get noted and then ratio’d into oblivion. ImageImage
The truth is once again able to thrive on this platform. For those who care about the truth and willing to work for it, I would highly recommend contributing to community notes in whatever way you can.

It is a vital tool to maintain a healthy and honest digital town square.
Another example of @CommunityNotes ftw Image

CONTENT WARNING (Graphic Video)

I apologize for taking a break from my normal content, but this incident needs exposure.

I've played hockey my whole life, I've NEVER seen anything even remotely close to this sick and gruesome.

The attacker Matt Petgrave (player in red, pictured below, left) purposefully kicks the victim Adam Johnson (player in white, pictured below, right) with his skate directly in the throat. Adam unfortunately died from his injuries.

At this point, Petgrave has not been arrested and has yet to face any consequences. Meanwhile the disgusting mainstream press is calling this a "freak accident". I can assure you there is no possible way this was an accident. Your body doesn't move like this on the ice, this was an attempted side kick to the throat that resulted in a man's death. Please share if you are able.

Let's talk about Monetization 🧵 Image
The most worrisome part of monetization right now is there is no real correlation between quality/value and ad revenue generated.
You could create a new account tomorrow and within a few months make more ad revenue than some of the best artists and historians on this website just by posting inflammatory nonsense that makes people mad and gets them to argue in the comments.

Why Éowyn is the most misunderstood female character in the Lord of the Rings.

A thread 🧵
Grave and thoughtful was her glance, as she looked on the king with cool pity in her eyes. Very fair was her face and her long hair was like a river of gold. Slender and tall she was in her white robe girt with silver; but strong she seemed and stern as steel, a daughter of kings
This is how Tolkien describes Éowyn. "Very fair was her face and her long hair was like a river of gold"

"Fair" is a cognate of Old Saxon fagar, meaning beautiful, pretty or peaceful.

Tolkien envisioned Éowyn as a truly beautiful daughter of kings.

Why Boromir is the most misunderstood character in the Lord of the Rings

A thread 🧵
If you asked the casual Lord of the Rings fan who their favorite character is, my guess is you'll have a mix of Aragorn, Legolas, Sam, Gandalf etc.

I always answer with Boromir and without fail, my answer is met with surprise and disapproval.
"But he tried to take the ring from Frodo"

"Boromir was weak, he let the ring corrupt him"

The average fan, has an unfair view of one of Tolkien's best and deepest characters. In this thread I will try to make an argument as to why he is unfairly maligned.
