LOOK: PICC is all set for the oath taking of almost 4,000 new lawyers this morning.
Supreme Court justices will hold a special en banc session just for the oath taking.
Signing of the Roll of Attorneys to follow.
LOOK: Fourteen Supreme Court magistrates are present in today’s oath taking of new lawyers, including Bar Exams 2022 chair, Associate Justice Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa.
2022 Bar Exams chair AJ Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa addresses the Bar passers by asking them:
Mahirap ba yung exam?
Masaya ba kayo na nandito kayo ngayon?
His questions drew laughter and applause.
Caguioa discloses the passwords for each of the 8 subjects in the 2022 Bar Exams were either quotes taken from his favorite detective characters or songs from his favorite musicals or Biblical passages.
The last password: "Thy will be done."
The 8 passwords, Caguioa says, have a common thread -- they embody the imprint of a good lawyer.
He says good lawyers must strive to, if not already possess, a delicate medley of virtue and skills. They are critical thinkers as well as articulate advocates.
Caguioa says lawyers should be conscious that laws are weapons as much as they are tools, and must have a sober recognition that the party on the opposite side of the court are people with stories, too.
Lawyers must be true to themselves, he adds.

Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo approves their admission.

2023 Bar Exams chair Associate Justice Ramon Paul Hernando has 3 reminders for new lawyers:
-Aim to be a lawyer of good repute throughout all your lives
-Keep your feet on the ground
-Excel responsibly
He also urges them to remember: Do not forget you are a Filipino.
Hernando:
Being a lawyer does not make you any more important than non-lawyers.
Know that you are already an influencer in your own professional capacity.
Please wield your words with caution.
Be careful what you click online.

Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo adjourns the special en banc session, marking the end of the oath taking.
The new lawyers are expected to sign the Roll of Attorneys also at the PICC this afternoon, the last step to becoming a full-fledged lawyer.

Supreme Court suspends for 2 yrs a senior partner in a law firm for sexually harassing a junior associate.
Acts included "dirty jokes, innuendos, inappropriate personal intimate questions about her romantic relationships" and sharing extramarital sexual conquests.
According to the SC press briefer, the senior partner also made actual sexual advances on the junior associate, even to the point of confessing that "he would have fallen for her had they been within the same age-range."
SC has not disclosed the names of the lawyers.
SC AJ Antonio Kho, Jr:
"As a senior partner in a law firm, respondent ought to know that junior associates—whose legal careers are just starting – would naturally look up to him. They would place their trust in him by seeking mentorship and professional growth under his wing."

Gesmundo: Decisions of the Court are always expected to be certain and predictable. Pero may mga pagkakataon na sinabi ko, na pwedeng mabago yung doktrina.
