GM(P). Axelar's General Message Passing (GMP) is now available between Cosmos and EVM chains, providing composability for dApps that span both ecosystems. 🧵👇 #cosmosandbeyond
Axelar has long been the best way to connect #EVM and #CosmosEcosystem via bridged assets. With GMP, that connection goes beyond bridging, supporting a new generation of cross-chain applications that combine the best of Cosmos and EVM.
.@sommfinance is a leading example: the Cosmos-based smart-vaults protocol announced today it is connecting Arbitrum w/ GMP:
Vaults will run across combined architecture of Sommelier’s Cosmos appchain and Axelar GMP to access unique DeFi apps like GMX on Arbitrum One. twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
GMP is blockchain interoperability beyond bridges: Using GMP, Axelar-connected applications securely move any payload cross-chain – including function calls and other logic.
Until now, this functionality has been available only between EVM chains.
Cosmos pioneered the idea of dedicated appchains, interoperable via the Inter-Blockchain Communication protocol (IBC).
As projects scale and find product-market fit, more are seeking the customizability and power that is possible with a purpose-built appchain.
GMP extends IBC interop beyond Cosmos, securing arbitrary cross-chain messages using proof-of-stake, the same consensus approach used by both Cosmos & EVM.
This is possible via $AXL tokenholders, a dynamic validator set (70) + permissionless interchain protocols.
Introducing the Axelar Mobius Development Stack (MDS), a new interoperability standard coming to an ecosystem you love 🧵👇
Axelar MDS, developed by @interop_labs, is a new interoperability standard leveraging enhanced AXL token utility to power infinite security and scalability across Web3.
As blockchain-based applications scale, they require increasing compute capabilities and seek to deliver increasing degrees of chain abstraction to connect new communities and assets seamlessly. Oracles and restaking improve the compute capabilities of blockchains, and allow developers to build more modular stacks – but on their own, they tend to fragment user experiences. First-generation interoperability networks can provide a degree of chain abstraction, but do not offer unified developer frameworks or scale to hundreds of blockchains.
🐣 Axelar network devs + @OpenZeppelin are joining forces to solve liquidity fragmentation in the EVM ecosystem + unlock interoperability for Web3 builders with a single click 🦾 🟠
In short, Axelar network integration + EIPs are coming 🧵👇
Ethereum is scaling horizontally, much like the internet itself. L2 blockchains are proliferating alongside modular + application-specific chains.
These blockchains are compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), but they are not natively interoperable with Ethereum 💔
Most L2s establish a baseline cross-chain connection to Ethereum via a sequencer + bridge. The sequencer passes bundles of verified transactions to the Ethereum blockchain for final verification. The bridge allows users to move wrapped assets between Ethereum and the L2.
2 weeks into August... Seems like a good time to look back on a hot July in the Axelar ecosystem ♨️ Because summer ends, but Web3 keeps building 🏄
First, an updated Axelar ecosystem map. Note new applications building in all categories: Bigup @AnzenFinance, @Ta_da_io, @yel_finance, @Biswap_Dex, @vegaprotocol, @xionglobal, @blerbfinance, @lavanetxyz, @InterSwap_io 🟠 🦾
Next up, a diverse group of #DeFi #RWA & #NFT projects created #InterchainTokens using ITS.
@AnzenFinance launched the $sUSDz multichain digital dollar.
Of course, Axelar does much more than just bridge. This connection will enable dApps to integrate wstETH on BNB Chain into unified UX with full programmability on an open stack.
“If we keep on growing you have to isolate resources. Web2 doesn't run on a single database.”
Sergey on appchains vs general-purpose 🧤
"If your application demands a lot of traffic, you need to think how to isolate your resources. Then potentially an appchain is more suitable for you. We saw this with @dYdX. ...
Looking for the best way to stay up to speed? Keep an eye out for our AXL Tokenholders’ How-tos. 👀
Here’s one that will help you identify the wrapped (ERC-20) AXL token by ticker.
🧵👇
AXL is the native utility token that powers the Axelar network. It’s chain-agnostic, so its ERC-20 representations will live on all connected chains, including Ethereum.
wAXL is the recommended ticker for ERC-20 representation.
1 AXL = wAXL and can be swapped by anyone via the Axelar permisionless layer using bridge front-ends such as satellite.money.
Native AXL addresses have the axelar prefix. AXL ERC-20 address have the 0x prefix, same as other Ethereum addresses.
