The three elders mentioned above with 8 other Gadabuursi elders were the first people to know about Ethiopia-British Agreement to hand over Hawd and reserve Area to Ethiopia in 1954.

They started protesting in Awbare then in Borama Until it reached its climax in Hargeisa.
Gadabuursi people send first letter in fax to British government in city of Westminster to condemn what they called a breach of Gadabuursi treaty with England in 1884.
