In light of recent events nationwide, I want to discuss what is likely the most controversial subject I will touch on yet.
The unfortunate but considerable negative relationship between ethnic diversity and social trust 1/6
In 2007, the greatest political scientist in America, Robert Putnam, released these findings:
"In the short run, however, immigration and ethnic diversity tend to reduce social solidarity and social capital."
2/
Not only do cross-racial relationships and trust decline, but intra-racial ones do as well.
"...in ethnically diverse neighborhoods residents of all races tend to ‘hunker down’. Trust (even of one’s own race) is lower, altruism and community cooperation rarer, friends fewer."
3/
Needless to say, this is horrifying news for America.
And it's horrifying for a few distinct reasons.
It horrifies me because it means this all might not work.
Our 'melting pot' is becoming a crumbling cauldron.
4/
Secondly, it concerns me that certain topics are too taboo in America, the only way we can fix things is the good ol' fashioned way, by talking about them.
“When there’s no name for a problem, you can’t see a problem. When you can’t see a problem, you can’t solve it.”
5/
That more racial diversity decreases social trust has been replicated and corroborated.
"We find a statistically significant negative relationship between ethnic diversity and social trust across all studies."
It's not something we should ignore any longer annualreviews.org/doi/abs/10.114…
I don't write the things I write because I hate anybody.
I want to pursue the evidence and data, even when it leads me to uncomfortable and unfortunate findings.
Increased ethnic diversity, by all available evidence, seems to harm social trust, neighborhoods and cities.
7/
We aren't stuck here, and it's not hopeless.
I wouldn't leave any of you on a defeatist note, we need a unifying identity we can rally around, and no, it can no longer be racial tribalism.
We can and should find another identity to coalesce around, perhaps patriotism.
In light of recent events in Kansas City, does the media truly selectively focus on white criminals over POC ones?
Yes, seemingly so. A murderer's race is mentioned 4x more often if he is white rather than black. 1/6
And not only does the media mention the race of white murderers more, they also do it sooner into the article!
I've noticed this myself, they place the race of white offenders more prominently 2/6 freebeacon.com/media/yes-the-…
This pattern applies to white mass shooters as well,
"White offenders were covered far more extensively than nonwhite assailants",
Mass shootings with white perps get almost twice as much media attention and stories... journals.sagepub.com/doi/pdf/10.117… 3/6
This is likely the most important sentence for modern life.
I know it sounds arrogant, but it provides the key rebuttal to the most prevalent leftist belief.

Why are certain protected demographics underrepresented or overrepresented in different walks of life?
From prisons, to education, to median income, disparities are ubiquitous, indeed you would be hard-pressed to find anything that does not have a disparity.
