I read a lot of 1800s Russian and French literature, because I trace many of our modern calamities to then.

Perhaps I'm chasing ghosts that aren't there, but modern progressive premises are eerily similar to those of revolutionaries back then.

The notion that "poverty causes crime" invoked to excuse poor people from responsibility is not new.
