A message to Rajputs on Buddha Purnima!

First, allow me to wish you all on the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima. On this day Kshatriyas need to introspect upon their understanding of dhamma. What dhamma truly is ?

My message focuses mainly on this question and unpacks the relevance of the Buddha Dhamma in our times and what kshatriyas can learn from it.

Buddha Dhamma, also known as Buddhism, is a philosophy and a way of life that originated in ancient India.

It is based on the teachings of Sakya Muni Buddha, who lived in the 5th century BCE and was the scion of the Sakya clan of Kshatriyas. The Buddha Dhamma teaches us to follow the Middle Path, which is a balanced approach to life. It emphasizes compassion, mindfulness,

and living an ethical life. In today's world, where stress, anxiety, and conflict are prevalent, the Buddha Dhamma offers practical solutions to deal with these challenges.

Buddha Purnima, also known as Vesak, is an important day for Buddhists around the world.

It marks both the birth and enlightenment of Sakya Muni. On this day, Buddhists offer prayers, meditate, and perform acts of charity. For them it is a day to reflect on the teachings of the Buddha and to renew their commitment to follow the path of enlightenment.

What can Kshatriyas learn from the Buddha Dhamma to improve their socio-political situation today?

Kshatriyas, who belong to the warrior caste, can learn a lot from the Buddha Dhamma. The Buddha taught that true strength comes from cultivating a pure mind,

and that violence is not the only available source of strength, even though it can be exercised as the last option for the purposes of defence when all other options have failed to resolve a conflict. Kshatriyas can use this teaching to address conflicts of which they have..

too many at the moment. The Buddha Dhamma also emphasizes the importance of spiritual and intellectual independence which can be applied to improve the socio-political situation of Kshatriyas.

A vast majority of kshatriyas today have a world view which is steeped in superstitions and anachronistic traditions and conventions that are pulling us back as a community.We must break free from the dogma of all kinds and start a new intellectual tradition that gives priority

to reasoning, analysis, and critical examination of all ideas that we have embraced unquestioningly hitherto. The Buddha taught "Be a lamp unto yourselves", so let us take refuge in the agency of wisdom born of a clear, independent, and undefiled mind.

We are under the spell of a terrible identity crisis at the moment. A majority of kshatriyas today cannot make sense of their Beingness without adventitiously imputing Hinduism upon it. This has led to a serious identity crisis so prevalent among us.

We must reflect carefully and remember at all times that our original identity comes from our clan and kingship networks which is a form of biological determinism and other elements of culture, language, and religion are acquired conventions and thus they are secondary in

priority. We should never pervert the right order of identities. We should first identify as Rajputs and the historically acquired religious traditions must be given only a secondary priority. Only when we put our original Beingness first would we be in a position to foster

the loving bond of brotherhood among our people without looking at their religion or region or language/ dialect etc as a reason to treat them with prejudice. This must be our first priority.

Buddha Dhamma is different from the popular religions of our times.

The popular religions are based on the texts composed by the priestly class. These texts focus on ritualism, superstitions, and sacrifices of all kinds. On the other hand, the Buddha Dhamma rejects the role of any sacrifice or ritual for the purpose of spiritual evolution

and emphasizes personal transformation through mediation, mindfulness, and compassion. The Buddha Dhamma is also universal in its outlook and therefore it is open to all, regardless of their caste or social status. This opens up a window of opportunity for us and can help us

ally with those castes and communities that have been marginalised traditionally. Finally, the Buddha Dhamma teaches us to be self-reliant and not to rely on external factors such as gods or their ministers or ritualism for our salvation.

In conclusion, the Buddha Dhamma offers us a path to inner peace, enlightenment, and social harmony. On this Buddha Purnima, let us reflect on the teachings of the Buddha and renew our commitment to follow his path. Thank you for reading!
