@BritishArmy The King will reuse historic items of clothing from the Royal Collection, worn by previous Monarchs at past Coronations.

#Coronation
The 'vestments' will be worn as His Majesty is crowned by the Archbishop of Canterbury in the Coronation Chair.

#Coronation
His Majesty will reuse vestments which featured in the Coronation Services of King George IV in 1821, King George V in 1911, King George VI in 1937 and Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.

#Coronation
These include the Colobium Sindonis, the Supertunica, the Imperial Mantle, the Coronation Sword Belt and the Coronation Glove.

#Coronation
During the Coronation Service, the Sword Belt is placed around the Supertunica.

The Jewelled Sword of Offering is then 'girded' or fastened at the Sovereign's waist using the Sword Belt.

#Coronation
Carrying the Jewelled Sword of Offering into Westminster Abbey is Petty Officer Amy Taylor – the first woman to undertake this duty.

She was selected to represent service men and women, as a tribute to His Majesty’s military career.

#Coronation
Members of The King’s Company Grenadier Guards, the Sovereign’s personal company which he commands, have been on duty in the Abbey for every coronation since Charles II was crowned following the Restoration of the Monarchy in 1660.

#Coronation
Six soldiers from the British Army's Household Division, commanded by a Warrant Officer, are carrying out the sacred duty of bearing the Anointing Screen that will cover and protect The King while sacred oils are applied by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

#Coronation
The personnel were nominated and ultimately selected for this honour by Major General Commanding the Household Division, to represent the six units of the Division: Life Guards, Grenadier Guards Coldstream Guards, Scots Guards, Irish Guards and Welsh Guards.

#Coronation
The King has been crowned by the Archbishop of Canterbury with St Edward’s Crown.

#Coronation
A fanfare sounds. The Abbey bells ring for two minutes and a gun salute is fired by the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery stationed at Horse Guards Parade.

#Coronation
Gun salutes at the Tower of London are fired by the Honourable Artillery Company, and at all saluting stations throughout the UK, Gibraltar, Bermuda, and ships at sea.

After a blessing, the King is enthroned on his throne chair.

#Coronation
His Majesty King Charles III has been crowned in a spectacular Royal ceremony in which the Armed Forces played a major part.

It's been the biggest ceremonial event of their lives and a once-in-a-lifetime achievement for the personnel. 🫡

The Queen is anointed with holy oil in full public view, touching the Queen Consort's ring.

The Queen is then crowned by the archbishop with Queen Mary’s Crown before being enthroned on her throne chair.

#Coronation
Five officers and 60 other ranks from The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery were on Horse Guards Parade to fire a six-gun salvo at the exact moment the St Edward’s Crown is placed on the King’s head.

The King and Queen will leave via the West Gate Door to Westminster Abbey, passing the Chief Marshal, who will order Procession Groups and Street Liners to come to Attention.

#Coronation
The Chief Marshal is Colonel Piers Ashfield, one of the British Army’s most decorated soldiers, and he controls the departure of the Coronation Procession – the journey back to Buckingham Palace.

#Coronation
Once the King and Queen have boarded the Gold State Coach, the Chief Marshal orders Flags Up (ceremonial signal flags) and Batons Raised (ceremonial Batons carried by the Procession Marshals).

This alerts the Procession it is about to move.

#Coronation
The Coronation Procession is formed of eight groups, supported by 19 bands. It is led by the Brigade Major of the Household Division, Lieutenant Colonel James Shaw of the Grenadier Guards.

#Coronation
He is accompanied by four Corporal Majors of The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment.

These include Corporal Major Tony Glass, who oversees all the Household Division’s stables and riding instruction.

#Coronation
Lieutenant Colonel Shaw helped organise both Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Funeral and Platinum Jubilee.

#Coronation
The Household Cavalry Mounted Band and The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery are leading the Procession, followed by around 400 personnel from around the Commonwealth.

They're flanked by 114 Guardsmen of the Household Division, carrying flags.

Forces News reporter @SianGrz is now in the air in one of the RAF Chinooks set to fly over Buckingham Palace! 👏

Following @BritishArmy personnel is the @RoyalAirForce marching detachment, commanded by Group Captain Steven Harrison, Deputy Commandant Royal Air Force College, with three marching detachments from the British Army following behind them.

#Coronation
The @RoyalNavy detachment, led by Captain Sophie Shaughnessy, is at the rear of the three Services, as it is the Senior Service and therefore closer to the Gold State Coach.

#Coronation
The final group is the Household Procession, made up of close to 1,000 Household Cavalry Troopers who form the Sovereign’s Escort, and Guardsmen of the Household Division.

#Coronation
Household Troops historically guarded the Sovereign and members of the Household Division continue that role today.

Eighteen representatives of the Realms will flank the Gold State Coach.

#Coronation
Captain Angus Wood, Blues and Royals, is tasked with the crucial role of watching the Gold State Coach and, accordingly, controlling the pace of the procession.

#Coronation
He signals to the divisional commanders in front of him with subtle movements of his sword.

He is riding a horse named Quetta, a Blues and Royals favourite and best-looking horse in the Regiment.

#Coronation
Each Procession Group is marching at Attention, with swords drawn, Colours flying as they pass The Cenotaph, before going through Admiralty Arch and then from Marlborough Road to Buckingham Palace.

#Coronation
As they pass the Cenotaph Procession Group Commanders, Corps Colonels and Corps/Regimental Sergeant Majors are saluting The Cenotaph along with all Marshals.

Marshals salute with their right hand as they pass, placing their batons under their left arm.

#Coronation
The procession route from Westminster Abbey back to Buckingham Palace take in Parliament Square, Whitehall, Trafalgar Square, Admiralty Arch and The Mall.

#Coronation
The same 45 half companies from the @RoyalNavy, @RoyalMarines, @BritishArmy and @RoyalAirForce that lined the route for the King’s Procession remain in position for the King and Queen’s journey to the palace.

#Coronation
They give a Royal Salute once the Royal Marines Bands and Service Chiefs have passed, and before the Massed Bands of the Foot Guards arrive.
