I don't think it's a good start to the reign of any monarch to:
a) Spend £250 million of public funding on their self aggrandisement in a cost of living crisis
and
b) tolerate the arrest of legitimate dissenters exercising a peaceful protest #NotMyKing 1/9
If anything sends a message that the thinly veiled care and regard for 'one's subjects' is absolutely false and cosmetic, it's exactly what we are seeing on this bleak day for democracy. 2/9
Yesterday we celebrated the fact that we had been to the polls, and in the most civilised way, chosen our local representatives. We had sent our message to the political establishment and they had to take it. 3/9
Today we witness all of that being swept to one side, silenced utterly, and the concerns and anxieties of a nation have been shushed by the inherited privilege of dynastic rule. We are literally told "Enjoy it, shut up, but if you protest it, you will be arrested". 4/9
Nothing could be more chilling. Nothing could undermine the established traditions of modern Britain, a country that espouses equality, democracy & modernisation, more than having a medieval establishment impose it's will at any cost, financially or in terms of civil rights. 5/9
Be mindful there are five types of dictatorship: 1) Personality 2) Military 3) Single party 4) Hybrid (those three together) 5) Monarchic 6/9
The road to fascism is littered with people saying that it wouldn't happen, couldn't happen, isn't happening and who warn you that you're being hysterical or you are overreacting. When you see people being arrested for protesting monarchy, respect your eyes. 7/9
I understand that Charles Windsor is going to take his opportunity to assume the position as head of state. I strongly dislike that the country has been silently denied the equally valid opportunity to review whether we want that to happen. 8/9
I do not support the spending of £250 million to override & celebrate democratic choice. I think it's a terrible thing frankly akin to something from a regime. I think it is terrifying that I could go out with a 'not my king' sign today and get arrested for that. 9/9

I'm not a monarchist, but I think the real opportunity offered to the monarchy has been wasted. I couldn't help but think that every robed and medalled aristocrat looked more and more disconnected from the reality of life in Britain. 1/7
There was an opportunity for Charles to come out and say "Monarchy is an evolving concept - we must keep moving forward" - do away with the horses and carriages, the military uniforms of family members, the ostentatious jewellery... 2/7
It could have been a chance for him to say "I'm here to become head of state - to take on a challenge - to lead a nation". Instead, the message that I got was "I've been waiting for this a long time. It's my party and I'll get all the trimmings". 3/7
George Osborne. If one nasty Tory politician has slunk away and avoided the consequences of his behaviour it has to be George Osborne. The architect of austerity himself. Surely the man who left the nation poised for the ultimate protest vote: Brexit? 1/24
I haven't seen much written about him recently, but let's have a little look? Well, like most good Tories he absolutely loves a alias. 'Boris Johnson' (Alexander de Pfefell Johnson), Iain Duncan Smith (George), Grant Shapps (lol). Osborne's real name is Gideon. 2/24
Gideon's father is Sir Peter Osborne 17th Baronet and Giddy will inherit the title to become the 18th. Plus the family wallpaper fortune 'Osborne & Little'. Public school boy (naturally) - St Paul's not Eton (£45k per year) and then Oxford. Bullingdon Club (of course). 3/24
Yesterday I wrote about Jacob Rees Mogg - a prominent harmful Tory. Today I want to remind people of another who is becoming forgotten - Iain Duncan Smith - with a majority of just 1,300 votes. 1/24
IDS, not to be confused with 'irritable bowel syndrome' (IBS) which is infinitely preferable, is literally a evil an person. He administrated £12 billion in cuts to the Department of Work & Pensions. Here he is cheering and fist pumping for hardship: 2/24
Celebrating hardship you might ask? Yes - after Osborne (who always has hated the poor) cut back every form of support he threw a 70p rise in the minimum wage on the table as smoke screen to the net degradation of living standards, which IDS knew and of course rejoiced at 3/24
It's time to take a close look at Jacob Rees Mogg isn't it? This man has nothing that isn't condescending to offer - with his rock solid belief that any conclusion he comes to must be the correct one. Of late this disgusting Tory has gone into darker places however 1/20
First of all - let's get the double standards out of the way. Nobody does double standards quite like Jacob because he wants to wave them in your face. If you accept them, you know your place (beneath him) and that gives him that righteous glee that he loves 2/20
Mogg is supposedly a Catholic and Christian, and having been brought up in an Irish Catholic household I can, with some confidence tell you what that means. I was dragged to church every Sunday, and seven times in Holy Week every year. Mogg ain't it. 3/20
As ever, looking to history clarifies so much. The crisis of monarchy in 1917 (George V) absolutely tells you why the royal dynasty is not as it is branded 'a family' - but is and always has been an organisation of a dynastic and inherited nature. We need to understand more 1/24
Monarchy wasn't described as 'the royal family' until the practise was encouraged under Queen Victoria - mainly as part of subtle reforms and branding changes brought about by Prince Albert. It was always - and has always been - a dynasty. What is the difference? 2/24
Well first of all at the time of George V - in the darkness of WW1 - there were royal cousins ruling the main power countries, albeit monarchy was outmoded and was being eclipsed by people power. Kaiser Wilhelm was a cousin of George V, as was Tsar Nicholas of Russia. 3/24
Just about every part of our country is crumbling and in a state of wild disrepair, but the Tories, whenever asked, simply ask you not to believe your own eyes & ears. Disregard your personal experiences because all is well and getting better. #GTTONow 1/
Doctors - GPs - are in crisis. I know GPs as close personal friends who, having qualified recently regret their career choices & they are looking at other options. I know student doctors in their penultimate year who are getting ready to work in the financial sector instead. 2/20
Roads - too dangerous to drive on, jarring collisions with deep holes and cracks. Nothing speaks more honestly of what the Tories have done than the state of the roads. Utter neglect and decay. While billions have been wasted on pet projects and backhanded to mates. 3/20
