It’s important to recognize Republican strategy: to divide us in any way possible. Dividing us shifts power away from people and to billionaires.

Natalie nicely spells out that plan for division, over COVID and lockdowns. It is nothing more than a pro-billionaire talking point. Image
She then blames Democrats for turning her conservative. A complete bog-standard fascist talking point.
It’s “Rhetoric of Reaction: perversity”. Standard. It’s what fascists do — blame us for making them fascist, denying their own responsibility.
No.
And she ends with a call for people to leave the Democratic Party.

I appreciate that this rightwinger is so explicit, that she gives the game away so clearly.
The Republican billionaire-funded strategy is to divide Democrats over COVID. Don’t let that work.
Ps I blocked her of course.
I would have blocked her for pushing Republican billionaire division. And also #BlockTheBlue

@sandeepvaheesan. Yeah. He’s across competition, right?”

“One of forty thought leaders, officials, pols that are going to decide this thing”

All of a sudden anti-trust is sexy.
@sandeepvaheesan “Across competition”

I’m going to use that.
@Econ_Marshall
@sandeepvaheesan @Econ_Marshall Ah as this is a media account, I have to say the WSJ Opinion callout is the real one.
“Some Silicon Valley Dems and centrist ghouls” yeeeees

It’s mainstreaming rightwing pro-gun-death lies into US public discourse. Saudi autocrats and American oligarchs like Ellison put up cash for Twitter.

And the White House politics people said Musk buying Twitter didn’t matter! Malpractice. Image
December 2022, @whstancil highlights a Semafor piece headlined “Why the White House isn’t stressed about Elon Musk’s Twitter.”

They should have been stressed! They should have used every available tool to block the deal.
(FTC, SEC, foreign money.)

@whstancil Me in November 2022:
“Elon Musk is changing Twitter to amplify rightwing voices.”
Quoting @jslez: “it will be easy for Musk to succeed at boosting rightist agitprop and suppressing the left. That shifts the media diet for the normie 90% [of Twitter users]"

To be clear: “proud gun owner” from a senior advisor at Giffords is the same kind of poll-tested consultant brain that tells senators to be bipartisan instead of blaming Republicans.

The consultants tell them it polls poorly in swing districts to say “ban weapons of war.”
What Giffords should be doing is holding up pictures of massacred kids and saying “Republicans did this, they want people to have weapons of war. They want your kids to die.”

But that “polls poorly in swing districts.” It is “divisive.” So instead we get mealy garbage.
Go on the offensive, Democratic leaders! Go on the political offensive, nonprofits like Giffords!

Stop trying to find “balance” with fascists who want your kids torn apart by AR-15s because it brings them power and votes. You must DEFEAT the GOP, not compromise with them.

Canada effectively bans handguns and their gun violence rates are much lower than ours.

We could heavily restrict handguns too — but we can’t, because corrupt Clarence Thomas changed the second amendment in 2008, in Heller. Image
Thomas and Scalia and the Fed Soc changed our second amendment while they were taking bribes from pro gun billionaires.
The fix was in.
Republicans appointed these judges, and Republican billionaires bribed the judges.

George W Bush supported Kavanaugh, and Kavanaugh voted to remove gun laws, in Bruen.

It. is. Republicans. At. Fault. Donors, judges, and politicians. The whole party. Image

I want to say it again: The corrupt courts are the architect of our gun massacre problem.

This is absolutely horrific stuff and Scalia and Clarence Thomas loosened our 2nd Amendment _while they were taking bribes from pro-gun billionaires_.
Senate hearings now!
And Dem Senators are not acting because they believe that if they issue subpoenas it will cause us to lose the 2024 elections.

That. Is. Garbage.
These are winning issues! Look at that pile of dead bodies, so absolutely horrific. Fight and win.
There are dead kids under those red scribbles — massacred kids with their bodies ripped apart. My god.

Republicans did this, they built our gun laws.
We must say this.

This is insane and also correct.
And insane. Yet correct.

Something about the way this is framed cracks it open for me. This isn’t just about a random billionaire. This is a strategy to bribe the judges, to capture them.
But what I don’t really get is the risk here. For Leonard Leo to coordinate a system to bribe the Republican judges is extremely risky. It includes multiple violations of federal criminal law.
Maybe the idea is that if the judges disclosed the gifts it would all be ok? That seems crazy. By a few years in people like Crow and Leo knew Thomas wasn’t reporting these.
