I see so many people lamenting getting Covid after hanging out with friends...many of them are older people, some already have Long Covid and the setback often causes even more physical damage and disability. It doesn't have to be this way!
It's not a choice between total isolation or no Covid precautions. This attitude reminds me of people who couldn't fathom switching to condoms and getting HIV tests when AIDS emerged. I think of Covid mitigations as Safe Life. Or at least safer life than pretending Covid is over.
If you're going to gather, have all friends test first. When gathering, wear a well-fitting N95/KN95/Kf94 mask indoors and outdoors in crowds. If home, run Hepa air purifiers or a Corsi-Rosenthal box and open windows. If you share a meal together, eat outside and avoid crowds.
This is how friends I know live in Japan, Korea and Vietnam. It's how family and many friends here also live. It's been standard in film/TV productions for 3 years. It's how Biden and folks at Davos approach their meetings, regardless of their minimizing Covid public narrative.
It's not perfect. Tests cost $ and can fail. Masks can leak. Outdoor settings can still transmit Covid. But layered approaches mostly work, and--like safe sex--if everyone adopted at least some of the practices, transmission of disease would be dramatically lowered.
We don't have to be repeatedly infected:
Consistently and correctly #WearAMask (N95/KN95/Kf94 or better) everywhere you share air
Test before gatherings
#CleanTheAir
Eat outside or in well-ventilated space
Avoid crowds.

It's not living in fear. It's taking control.
Preemptively posting this for the inevitable angry quote-tweeters. I really do mean it:
❤✌😷

True. I have a dozen bookmarked studies to read and add to this thread. Also, OB/GYN said they’re seeing more aggressive cervical cancers in last 2 years. Research shows SarsCoV2 causes other viruses to reactivate, including HPV. (Thread has a study)

I wonder if there is increase in esophageal and anal cancers as well.

We adapt when we get valid information. If the info catches someone —or an organization or a government—in falsehoods or obfuscation, we should question the sources who lie or omit important details.

Below is multi-sourced info left out of the “Living with Covid” spin:
If we are expected to get this virus on repeat for as long as we live, we have a right to know what that really means to our health, potential disability, ability to work, risk of severe event or new chronic condition, likelihood or organ and brain damage and shortened lifespan.
We also need universal protections/allowances in place for the disabled, immunocompromised and high-risk citizens expected to pay taxes and obey laws but with no access to safe healthcare settings or any sort of public life.

There appears to be a bot and troll army now arguing AGAINST doctors reading the research studies on long-term damage from SarsCov2. So…if medical pros don’t know about post-acute Covid problems we can keep pretending it’s just “a flu?”

We are living in the Dark Ages 2.0
I and many others are paying attention, and bringing the light:
You'll notice these reply guys often include the words "few studies" (nope, tens of thousands) and "not peer reviewed." (Um, SarsCov2 is most widely studied virus in the world now, with research published in every medical journal.)

Who is coordinating this? (David Brock?)

Imagine if the US did this plus ventilation in all public spaces. It wouldn't just put the brakes on runaway Covid, it would dramatically lower ALL circulating infections.
