Ghoul City is a simple side-scrolling video game that I created entirely with GPT-4 and Midjourney.
To create Ghoul City, I pretended to not have any coding background and instead let AI handle all of the coding and debugging. ๐งต๐
The goal of Ghoul City was to see how difficult it would be to create a simple video game for someone with absolutely no coding experience. I got the idea to try this out from @icreatelife fantastic tutorial on creating video games with AI.
To start, I modified @icreatelife prompt to work better with a side-scroller. I found that the more direction you provide to GPT-4 in the initial prompt, the less bugs you will run into later on.
So MAKE SURE you are clear, concise, and very detailed in the initial prompt.
Once GPT-4 starts to do its thing, it may not produce all of the code in one generation. If that happens, just prompt GPT-4 to continue generating.
Also my GPT interface may look different because I have the Snack Prompt Google Chrome Extension on! Shout out @realchasecurtis
Once you have the code generated, you can use the website OpenProcessing to implement the code, Midjourney to generate the images, RemovalAI to remove background
MJ prompt: 16 bit video game [Asset Name], side profile, 16 bit game sprite, highly detailed, white background --v 5
I used this same process to create the bullets, platforms, explosions, and character movements (jumping and crouching).
See the ALT for the background prompt
It would be a lot of fun to continue building Ghoul City with input from you folks. Add any suggestions and/or changes in the comments and I will try to use GPT-4 to implement them!
