I'm going to be honest. I'm a little wary about the lack of a Black matchmaker. But they have a Latino and an Arab matchmaker which is nice. And the show just started, so maybe they'll have additions in the second season.
Wait, the Arab matchmaker on the show is Palestinian and from New Jersey! I can work with this! But only if she's from CNJ. North and South Jersey are iffy.
They have an autistic contestant too! Oh, I gotta watch this. I hope it's not tacky and exploitative. I'm in the mood for a feel-good show. This feels like The Bachelor for people who hate The Bachelor. (That's a compliment.)

Well, it's been spoiled, so I'm gonna talk about it. It's comics. It's soap! Characters die and come back. But there's a diversity "rule" that's been broken. When you only have one, you treat that one with care. Because that one unfortunately represents all.
Honestly, there shouldn't be just one. It's ridiculous when there is just one. Or even two! It reinforces the notion of the monolith. But even with just two, you give creators space to breathe.
For example, at one point there was only Storm. Then Monica. There have been incredible stories about those two, but if you have Storm lose her powers and Captain Marvel resign as the leader of the Avengers in disgrace simultaneously, there's a message sent about black leaders.
I wish someone would try to demand that I answer a question about someone else's racism while I am trying to make a living! Boy, if you don't...
If you are in entertainment, you will likely be surrounded by predatory bigots. (Honestly, that goes for many industries.) It is not the job of the marginalized to give up opportunities because a predator has a job at an organization. It is on the organization to CLEAN HOUSE.
