I feel like GLP1-agonists are like throwing buckets of water on a house fire. Do they help? Sure. Do they stop your house from being on fire? Absolutely not. (1/4)
If people just want to feel a little better, I get that. The bar for what we can expect has been set so low that quite frankly that is all they are expecting. (2/4)
But I think they should be offered an intervention that puts out the fire in the house and offers the prospect of rebuilding to occur. (3/4)
People should get to know about the option that may allow them to thrive. But they aren't being told there even is one to thrive. And that is really not cool. And just downright unethical. 4/4 #ketogenic

Research indicates that metabolic pathways play a significant role in regulating the aging process of organisms, suggesting that manipulating metabolism can potentially enhance healthspan and lifespan. (1/15)
So much so, that scientists are currently exploring dietary interventions and compounds that can modulate metabolism as potential anti-aging strategies. (2/15) doi.org/10.1016/j.bj.2…
One particular focus of metabolic interventions aimed at delaying aging is cellular senescence. (3/15)

You might say, "Hey, Nicole! My chronic brain fog is not Mild Cognitive Impairment, because I don't have any problems with memory." 🧵(1/17)
And that might be true. But I want you to know there are different forms of #MCI and what they might mean to you. But first, let's define what Mild Cognitive Impairment is for those who don't know. (2/17)

If you or a loved one suffers from migraines, you are going to want to settle in for this thread going over the outcomes of a recently published study. 🧵(1/15) #migraine #neurotwitter
Migraine patients report sleep problems. But how much of that is due to pain or other factors going on with this neurological disease? (2/15)
These researchers wanted to see if the effects of a ketogenic diet could modify sleep issues in patients with migraines and to clarify whether those changes came from the ketogenic diet's effects on headache symptoms. (3/15)

Slow cooked country pork ribs with @MariaEmmerich amazing BBQ sauce from her book the Ketogenic Cookbook. Including the sauted cabbage on the bottom this meal is only about 17g of carbs. (1/4) Image
Plenty of room left for a slice of Mother's Day treat. A Marscapone berry tart. Altogether a meal with desert under 25 g of carbs. (2/4) Image
What did I eat earlier? I ate bacon and some coffee creamer with MCT oil. If I had wanted to eat more I could have by adding almost "no carb" options. Cheese and eggs perhaps. Some hamburger in tallow. Etc. (3/4)

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. (1/24)
In people with ALS, these motor neurons die, resulting in the brain's inability to initiate and control muscle movement. (2/24)
As the disease progresses, the muscles gradually weaken, twitch (fasciculate), and waste away (atrophy), and the brain loses the ability to control voluntary movement. (3/24)

If you want to explore the role of magnesium in Alzheimer's disease you will want to perhaps read this thread. And maybe we can extrapolate the effects of magnesium to how it may help other neurodegenerative disorders. 🧵 (1/27)
Magnesium (Mg) is a vital mineral that plays a crucial role in several bodily functions. This mineral helps stabilize proteins, nucleic acids, and lipid membranes, which are important for cell functions. (2/27)
It is a necessary cofactor to make enzymes you need to unlock energy from glucose. It's depleted from the soil so even on a healthy diet you can be you are likely getting insufficient amounts. (3/27)
