Zolile Cornelius #Sekeleni (#DrNandipha Magudumana's father) arrives in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court.
He is accused 2 in the ongoing #ThaboBesterEscape case. He is the only accused out on bail after being granted bail of R10k. @orrin417
JUST IN| Both #ThaboBester and #DrNandipha Magudumana will appear virtually this morning while the 6 other accused in the matter of Besters escape will appear in person at the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court. Bester is being detained at Kgosi Mampuru Prison in Pretoria.
According to the NPA #DrNandipha Magudumana made an application last week to appear virtually from #Kroonstad Correctional Centre in the Free State where she is currently being detained.
#ThaboBester has appeared virtually in the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court from Kgosi Mampuru Prison in Pretoria.
#ThaboBester confirms to the court that he has instructed new attorneys to deal with his case. This after his attorney, Marvin Carpede, withdrew as his attorney on record. Advocate Tsoeunyane Phila has taken over as attorney on record to represent Bester.
#ThaboBester confirms to the court that he has instructed new attorneys to deal with his case. This after his attorney, Marvin Carpede, withdrew as his attorney on record. Advocate Tsoeunyane Phila has taken over as attorney on record to represent Bester.
Advocate Tsoeunyane Phila has requested that Bester brought to court tomorrowas there is an "issue they want to bring to the attention of the court." He says he wants the court to be satisfied that the person before court is, in fact, Thabo Bester.
Magistrate Motlholo Khabisi has dismissed Adv Phila's request and has postponed the matter to June 20 for further investigation. Bester will remain in custody until then.
#DrNandipha Magudumana has appeared virtually from what looks like the library at #Kroonstad Prison in the Free State.
The bail application for the five former G4S employees now resumes in court. Kagisho Moruri, the attorney representing accused 1 Senohe #Matsoara and accused 7 Tieho Frans #Makhotsa is now cross-examining the witness - one of the investigating officers in the case.
Moruri grills the witness on the investigation proc claiming it led the state to withdraw the most serious charge that any of the accused faced - murder. #Matsoara was initially accused together with #Sekeleni, #Bester and #DrNandipha Magudumana on a charge of murder.
Moruri claims that #Matsoara will not interfere with any witnesses should he be granted bail. The witness counters this statement saying: "In usual instances the accused persons always confirm they will not interfere with the witnesses but they usually do..."
Moruri questions the witness over the death of #KatlegoBereng - the man whose body was found burnt in Thabo Bester's cell. He asks whether there was a post-mortem done for the death of Bereng.
The witness says the port mortem indicated #KatlegoBereng had a fracture on his head and had no signs of smoke inhalation in his lungs. The witness had previously testified that #Matsoara and #Bereng knew each other and would often be seen drinking together.
Moruri disputes that his client #Matsoara visited #Lesotho 8 times between October and November last year. He says Matsoara only visited Lesotho four times and that he does not have family in Lesotho but rather knows people from there that he met on Facebook.
Moruri draws snarls from the public gallery when he questions whether #BloemfonteinCeltics still exists. His question to the witness falls on the back of claims made by the witness that the #Celtics fans are against the five former G4S employees being granted bail.
This is in relation to #KatlegoBereng who was an executive member of the #Celtics supporters association in Bloemfontein. "So you are referring to the fans of a club that does not exist?"
The bail application for the five former G4S employees will yet again be postponed as the day draws to a close. The attorneys representing the accused have not all had an opportunity to cross examine the state witness. The date decided on is likely to be some time next week.
The bail application has been postponed to Friday.

Back in the Joburg High Court today for the final day of #RamaphosaVsZuma. Advocate Dali Mpofu - for Zuma - is still addressing the court. He's now addressing the standing issue. BW
—
Ramaphosa is cited in the challenge he's brought to his private prosecution as "The Preisdent of the Republic of South Africa".
Zuma's position is that he can't bring it in his official capacity because he's being privately prosecuted in his personal capacity.

#SenzoMeyiwatrial Maumela: The court has to take the public interest into account in this case.
When all is said and done the court has to ensure that the interest of justice is taken into account. @motso_modise
Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan has been scathing of Andre de Ruyter’s book, which he hasn’t read.
He says de Ruyter has taken the country back to “swart gevaar” tactics. LD
Gordhan tells Parliament's Scopa that he is not on trial here.
"I've done nothing wrong. The culprits can come here and account for themselves."
Gordhan says he doesn't want to be "pilloried" in certain quarters.
LD
Gordhan says instead of using corruption - which is well-known - as an excuse for his performance, de Ruyter should have been apologetic for not being able to achieve what he set out to do. LD
#SenzoMeyiwatrial Judge Maumela starts by asking state Advocate George Baloyi if there are delays being experienced in bringing the accused to court, Baloyi says not according to his knowledge. @motso_modise
