1. Unsettling fact for climate scientists: Steve Bannon was CEO of Space Biosphere Ventures (#Biosphere2). Yes THE Movie producer, Breitbart, Trump-advisor guy. These folks have known all about and worked on climate change for over 30 years.

They are not stupid, on the contrary.
4. The Daily Beast delivers a polemical review. More relevant is to name Bannon and #Biosphere2 as examples of systems thinkers who go dark. I called it strategic ecofascism or eugenics.

That, not quarantine, is the real pandemic and climate relevance. thedailybeast.com/spaceship-eart…
6. Great write-up from a complementary architect view, thanks @sevensixfive:

1. To repeat, as this question affects billions and can be clarified: epidemiologists/public health, but sadly not climate scientists, address complexity since we lack binding legal climate instruments. I see no one but strangely me even try integrated analysis. That's not ideal.
2. Law requires previous scientific analysis. It's why I focused on science for YEARS even pre-pandemic. To what effect? No interest in the scientific community.

If your plan is, "Change everything everywhere worldwide within a few years", then I'm sorry to say you have no plan.
3. There will be TREMENDOUS policy resistance (a technical term) against any large-scale, sustained decarbonization.

If your plan is, "Everyone must comply with [plan X] and there must be no setbacks to stay within [budget Y]," then again, I'm sorry, you have no plan.

Twitter search tells me I'm the first to share this clearly relevant article. My current theory is that 2020-2023 is a script idea for Black Mirror, rejected for imaginative yet low-fidelity writing 🤣
Here, too, I seem to be the first to share this? Strange. (The HIV scientists are also missing at least one SARS-CoV-2 coreceptor, ie the PCSK9 cleavage site. Folks I'm not even a virologist; if I notice such stuff, it's a sign things are not going well.) ImageImage
You all are welcome to support my patreon site - all espresso-support appreciated* - for doing your research for you.

*nearly a joke in itself, given the stakes we handle 👻☺️

Someone explain like I’m five how SARS-CoV-2 differs from HIV-1 please
Someone explain like I’m five how SARS-CoV-2 does that
Someone #ELI5 how SARS-CoV differs from Ebola virus please. You see, you already infected all five year olds. These are legitimate questions. The only puzzle here is why not everyone is asking them. Image

1. SARS/MERS-CoV and other ‘common cold’ human coronaviruses (HCoV) are neuroinvasive. Known for decades. Can cause long term neurocognitive disease.

This Intro by Dr. Talbot 2016 cites evidence from 2000, before even SARS-CoV-1: ImageImage
2. Research into the link from HCoV-OC43 infection before or during puberty to later onset of NDDs such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s is ongoing. “Living with Covid” is adding billions of unwilling test subjects to the experiment. They deserve the truth.

3. SARS-CoV-2 is a unique coronavirus because it contains two furin-like proprotein convertases (PCs). A polybasic FCS (PC3) and a non-basic PCSK9 cleavage site, involved in cholesterol and fatty acid homeostasis.

PCs cleave glycoprotein, delivering viral genome to host cells. ImageImageImage

50% case fatality ratio is little concern. Deadly diseases usually self-eradicate because people change their behavior, ie wear N95 masks. Real danger starts with a 'mild' acute phase, when the masks drop and people develop the insane idea to "live with Covid"/SARS-CoV/influenza.
It would take many months to develop vaccines.

1. Ebola virus (EBOV) and SARS-CoV parallels. NOW you have my interest. mdpi.com/2077-0375/11/1…
2. @fitterhappierAJ mentioned Ebola as a better example for SARS-CoV-2 last year, but I just got it.
