context: so in the ph, since 90% of the population is catholic, there's a lot of catholic schools here. and in catholic schools, whenever they played the angelus and the 3'o clock prayer, everyone (students, teachers, staff) are expected to stop whatever they are doing and pray.

for students in particular, since they'll get an earful if they don't, they really just stand where they are—would stop walking, writing, eating when it starts. anyway, on with the #sssnippetaday 😂

Their teacher, Kakashi, was once again absent, so they had a free period. The

boys decided to go to the court to play some basketball since Kiba brought a ball, and since the girls didn't have much to do anyway, they decided to just watch them on the benches while they chat and eat snacks.

Fifteen minutes into the game, the girl was barely even watching,

being more focused on the topic they were discussing—gossip about Kurenai-sensei and Asuma-sensei, so everyone was quite surprised when one of the boys—Naruto, suddenly shouted, "Sakura-chan, look out!"

It happened so fast, Sakura looked at the direction of the court and saw the

orange ball flying straight towards her, and she instinctively immediately closes her eyes, waiting for the impact, but instead of the ball getting to her, she instead felt arms around her.

She opened her eyes and flushed as soon as she realized who it was—Sasuke. She didn't

know what happened then. She'd only find out after the whole fiasco, when Ino would explain it to her, but Sasuke has apparently ran after the ball and pushed it to the other direction before it hit Sakura, but doing so, he had lost his balance and could only hold onto her so as

not to topple to the ground—that was how they found themselves in that position.

For a moment they were shocked and neither moved, nor spoke. No one in their class spoke either, half shocked, half confused at what just happened. And when Sakura finally was brought back to her

senses, before she could even move, the 3o'clock prayer started.

That was when everyone else finally found their voices and a lot started laughing and teasing them. Sasuke removed his hands from her but stayed where he stood because of the prayers. The others continued

whispering their teasing, saying Sasuke shouldn't have moved since the prayer has started and the girls were even weakly pushing Sakura to Sasuke.

Neither moved from where they stood but both could also not look at each other, suddenly feeling very conscious. And for the rest of

the prayers, their classmates watched them stuck in their places, both avoiding each other's gazes, and both red as tomatoes.

It was a beloved story and memory that Ino would mention years after that, during their wedding, when she tells everyone how it started. 😂
