Thread…

When it was abundantly clear both Trump & DeSantis were going to run I kept a very open mind as to who I wanted. My loyalty isn’t to one man, but to the constitution…to America. I really wanted to go in to the primary with an open mind as to who I was going to back.
In 2024, barring any major delays, I’ll be voting for the first time as an American citizen. So this one is really quite special for me. But as the weeks and months have passed, Trump has really started to make the decision for me. Why?
Trump’s focus on DeSantis is mind-boggling. Trump has a proven record. A record that convinced me and so many others to #WalkAway from the Democrat Party and the left. Biden’s record is in tatters. He doesn’t need to attack a key America First ally.
Trump’s inability to focus on that record, and Biden’s lack of one, which is MORE than enough to convince many a Republican voter, is a serious issue for me. He doesn’t need to go after DeSantis. But he insists. Why?
Some say it’s about loyalty. DeSantis is young, his turn will come, and he should forgo the momentum he has and be loyal to Trump. That’s crap. Your loyalty should never be to one man. It’s to an ideal. The very ideal America was founded on, and our sacred document.
There is no disloyalty in what DeSantis is doing. After Trump helped him in 2018 DeSantis won by 20x greater a margin in 2022 on his own record. Not Trump’s. He’s an America First pioneer in his own right. Trump didn’t get him that landslide win. He earned it.
The weird obsession with trying to destroy a man that is going to help carry the torch long after Trump is gone, through fear his own record won’t carry him past the man, is a categorical miscalculation in my view - even if he succeeds. I’ll have lost respect for Trump.
Trump, like me, is not a lifelong conservative. In many ways he still isn’t conservative to some, despite his steadfast commitment in upholding conservative values. So for him to attack strong conservative leaders with a proven record of legislating as such, is ridiculous to me.
DeSantis is absolutely going to get establishment money. The establishment hate Trump. DeSantis is only man that stands a remote chance of winning against him. He should take that money. He’d be stupid not to. Take their money, and stick it to them if you should win with it.
The miscalculations Trump is making in how he deals with the threat of DeSantis takes me back to something I’ve heard by multiple people who’ve been close to Trump; he’s now surrounded by the D-Team, having fired anyone with the balls to speak up and question him.
Remember, this is the man who fired Brad Parscale and not Anthony Fauci. The man who took horrendous advice on the role of the VP in counting electors, by people who were lying to his face - we know because they told Trump one thing and Pence’s aids another.
Trump is surrounded people who are scared of Trump. They’re scared because they want to protect their jobs and salaries. That, or they simply don’t care about law, or the constitution, and will say anything to get to where they need to be. In a way, Trump’s own kind of “swamp”.
Presidents are made by who they surround themselves with. Trump has a record of not firing people he should, and firing those willing to be brutally honest for their commitment not to Trump, but to the constitution and the America First agenda.
DeSantis, in Florida, has a strong record of firing those that stand in his way, and hiring people who are going to allow him to get his agenda in place. He was able to help maintain strong state house and senate majorities in order to get his agenda through.
It’s starting to become a no brainer for me. DeSantis is the only person who can get it done, and who won’t let his own ego get in the way of ensuring we finish what was started.
