Back at #OurWawar which has exploded into all shades of green.

Anchor Stump (pic 4) looking elegant as always. ImageImageImageImage
Relaxing Sunday at #OurWawar with our @k_rupal, listening to half a dozen different bird calls. I can hear a wood thrush but can't see it. Image
This is true. We were gone just 3 weeks and so much stuff has sprung up! How rapidly do these green things turn sunlight and air and water into living cells! 😳

3 weeks difference! ImageImage
Look at this chubby gorgeous wild turkey just sauntering around #OurWawar.

No wonder we found a bunch of decades old turkey traps on the land.

No wonder the guy who apparently owned this property a century ago lived off the land. We get so much game meat walking through! ImageImageImage
This big boy would feed a family of four for a week easy! Image
The constant cacophony of birds, both migratory and local. #OurWawar
"what advice would you give a Pune boy experienced in Sahyadri treks about DC area hiking & camping?"

BUG SPRAY!

DEET BUG! SPRAY!

American cities being mostly bug free make us complacent about their woods which are scarily dangerously more insect filled than Indian woods.
That is seriously the topmost advice I'll give any Indian heading out into the American woods.

DO NOT underestimate their bugs thinking, I'm from India, I'm used to insects.

No, you are not!

North American insects can literally kill you if you don't take precautions.
Oh deer! #OurWavar Image
Oooh, this is the first time we have caught a fox on the camera trap in daytime!! #OurWawar Image
Garfield!!! #OurWawar Image

So much to learn from Modi!

When PM Modi travels abroad on the new 777 and the safety demo points to the exits in case of an emergency, he pays attention and notes the exits.

This shows visionary thinking and intelligence to be aware of all situations!

Very inspirational!
When the pilot says there is a period of turbulence and everyone should put their seatbelts on, PM Modi, like any commoner, like even the lowest paid staffer on Air India One, puts on the seatbelt.

This shows wisdom and humility and a profound ancient respect for gravity.
When PM Modi lands in a foreign country, he abjures the use of a jet bridge, and instead very humbly walks down red carpeted stairs for the sake of hungry photographers.

This shows boundless energy and an ascetic selflessness.

I used to keep thinking US has exceptionally cheap fish but then I traveled a couple of dozen other countries and no, it's India that has exceptionally expensive fish.

Not just in ppp terms, but even real terms, 2020s India has among the most expensive fish & seafood.
And at least in Maharashtra, seafood prices in the last 20 years or so have outstripped already high inflation by a considerable margin. Meat and eggs too. But especially fish, which in most cities in India has become a rich people luxury. Prolly not Bengal& Kerala.
The contrast seems even more stark in the 21st century cos the rest of the world has generally put in place cold chains which handle a lot of fish volume and that helps cut prices. And other govts encourage people to eat fish for better health.

Indian govt went the other way.

Yo @JoeBiden, try this one too next time. 🤣🤣
The general understanding in global circles is to have #BawlNarendra climb a chickpea tree, and then he folds on almost everything they want. 🤣
Our @JoeBiden is too nice! That's why he speaks in Desi colloquial with Modi. He must have also told Modi that he will revert asap with details that will be PFA. And signed off with his good name. 🤣🤣

The guy is getting off a jumbo jet made exclusively for him. He eats catered food of his choice and sleeps on a nice big bed in the 777.

But every time he travels, these lemmings talk like he just came after a shift at a coal mine in 36 hour ST bus ride. Image
You can see how bare Modi's achievements cupboard is that his fans make a big deal of things like "he sleeps on the plane between countries instead of in a hotel" and "he manages jetlag" as if that's different from any world leader. 🤣🤣

Sanghi standards are very low for sure.
Coming up soon

"PM Modi always puts on a seatbelt when plane is landing. What boundless energy! What a statesman!"

"During turbulence, he remained seated! Such perspicacity!"

"He brushes teeth in morning AND at night! Exemplary self discipline!"

Yet another bucket list item being checked off very soon. The @WhiteHouse 😁 Image
Myself Gaurav Sabnis, founder President chairman CEO of the Gaurav Sabnis group. 😎😎

(It's just "name of primary applicant" group. You book one, it'll be Shishir Sant group.)

No, anyone can apply, even tourists.

But citizens and green card holders apply through the website of their Congress rep or senator.

Others have to contact their DC embassies.

And you need to plan well in advance, often months.

My @NewYorker bae @adamgopnik has yet another poetically profound monologue disguised as a book review.

A lot of history lessons and thought provoking points.

"A civilization can't hide its values from itself".

Definitely going in my syllabus.

This is a provocative and profound insight.

He's basically saying NYC, DC, Boston have good intracity public transport cos we really want em like we want WiFi, but don't have high speed intercity rail cos e don't want it passionately enough

That's a superb marketing insight. ImageImage
It's a fair question to ask ourselves in the northern corridor.

Do I care enough about getting from to DC or Boston in 1 hour instead of 4? Would it really make a big difference in my life?

Honestly, it wouldn't.

This is what killed the Concorde btw but the Paris crash.
