I have 107 Chrome article tabs right now that will never be read or closed.

One reason I’m building Bearly.AI is to put AI research tools (instant summaries, ChatGPT) in an easy-to-use keyboard shortcut…in place of more tabs.
I used to see the most insane feets of motorbike logistics while living in Vietnam.

Motorbike called “Xe Om” and translates to “vehicle you have to hold on to”. And some of these Xe Om drivers could hold onto anything.

“HBO Max” officially rebranded to “Max”. The new logo is pretty descriptive. Image
At the 50,000 foot level, I get the move: “HBO” is a premium and edgy brand that isn’t a great umbrella for lower-quality content (reality shows, filler etc) that attracts normal subs.

And you want to protect the name to attract talent, but wild put yourself in that position.
On a related note, here is a comparison between Quibi and CNN+ (the latter of which definitely paid McKinsey for consulting work).

There will never be a greater underdog story than 2x MVP Nikola Jokic being drafted during a Taco Bell “Quesarito” ad
PS. If you’re in the market for a good sports and consumer goods story, here’s one on why Red Bull owns and F1 team.

the quesarito actually had a good run of prominence over Jokic but these dotted lines suggest there is no coming back Image

Heat is one of the best films ever.

Directed by Michael Mann, the 1995 crime classic has a truly “one-of-a-kind” moment: Al Pacino and Robert De Niro in the same scene for the first time.

To make it happen, Mann actually created the *same film* twice. It’s an awesome story of… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
Check out this great video from Nerdstalgic:

Also, Mann on The Rewatchables podcast: theringer.com/platform/amp/2…

The entire 90-minute LA Takedown is on YouTube:

And here is the famous bank robber scene from each film:
I recently wrote about the similarities in how Rick Rubin and Steve Jobs viewed “taste”.

An idea they share is that they both believed being stubborn about your taste and being willing to see it through is key to create great work.

The best film trailer and song combo ever is Miami Vice (2006) with “Numb/Encore” (Linkin Park and Jay-Z).
Logan (2017) with Johnny Cash’s “Hurt” is also perfect

Great Coca-Cola ad campaign: high-res images of the drink that challenges you to “try not to hear this”.

The images create the effect of synesthesia, when 2 senses cross in the brain (sight and sound).

One of the few brands that can pull off the auditory illusion. ImageImageImage
I wrote about the invention of Coca-Cola in my newsletter (it def had cocaine).

Unsurprisingly, the company pioneered consumer advertising and was America’s largest ad spender by 1910s.

The story of Coca-Cola and cocaine is fascinating.

The 1880s formula had the drug. And even though it’s been removed, Coca-Cola is one of the only companies in the world that can legally trade the coca leaf.

I wrote more here: bit.ly/3ohGjc7 Image
John Stith Pemberton is the pharmacist who created the Coca-Cola formula.

The beverage he created before Coca-Cola sounds like the wildest thing ever: bit.ly/3ohGjc7 Image
There’s a ~100 year old diner shop in Manhattan that serves Coca-Cola the old-fashioned way.

Well not the old old fashioned way, but the “decocanized” way (Coca-Cola got rid of the drug in the early 1900s).
