Woman aren’t safe in #Mumbai.

A 52-year-old taxi driver “Mohamed Jibrael” was arrested for allegedly molesting an engineering student inside a moving cab in Colaba. The incident happened on May 20 evening. Representational image
The police stated that the accused touched the woman inappropriately. Feeling unsafe, the 22-year-old woman shared her live location with her brother and messaged him saying, "I am in taxi and unsafe."
When the woman tried to enter the taxi, the driver told her that the rear door was not working properly and asked her to sit in the front seat. She complied, and the accused began engaging in small talk with her.
The taxi driver requested the woman to accompany him to various places, but she refused and asked him to drop her at the hostel. The driver then stopped the vehicle in front of a juice stall, where he took sugarcane juice and offered some to the woman, which she declined.
During their journey, the driver started touching her inappropriately. Despite her protests and requests to stop the vehicle, he continued driving.
Feeling scared, the woman shared her live location with her brother and informed him that she was in a taxi and not safe. Eventually, she demanded the driver to stop the vehicle at a particular spot, paid him money, and got out of the cab.
The woman reported the incident at Colaba police station, and a case was registered under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the IPC.
