It's time Attorney General Merrick Garland & DOJ stop defending Trump - DOJ's carrying on Bill Barr's attempt to derail E. Jean Carroll's 2019 defamation case is an embarrassment & particularly legally weak in light of evidence brought forth during trial
DOJ continuation of Trump AG Bill Barr's efforts to shield Trump is based on the theory that Trump's insulting E. Jean Carroll was part of his duties as President of the United States - but Trump's own deposition revealed in the Carroll trial undercuts DOJ
since Trump never consulted White House Staff about his response to Carroll & his remarks seem purely personal not official - nor does AG Garland seem to be troubled by DOJ defending Trump civilly even as they investigate him criminally.

In 1888, Hong Yen Chang fought for two years in New York state to gain admission to the bar because they would not admit a non-citizen to into the bar and the Chinese Exclusion Act prevented him from being naturalized -
It took a special naturalization certificate issued by a NY judge and a special piece of legislation to get him admitted into the New York state bar. He then went to California where he faced the same obstacle the California court rejecting New York's action by stating:
“A person of Mongolian nativity is not entitled to naturalization under the laws of the United States, and a certificate showing the naturalization of such person by the judgement of any court is void, and cannot entitle him to practice as an attorney in this state”

Kinda tired of hearing language like this about Trump prosecutions: "Bringing an untested case against anyone, let alone a former president of the United States, carries the risk that a court could throw out or narrow the case" - untested cases are not harder just because
of who they are brought against. If the case is weak then its weak without regard to who it's brought against - different standards for the rich & privileged is so ingrained into our system that most don't even recognize the disparity in standards including Attorney Generals...
Contrary to what @nyt reports this case is not about salacious details. It's about a potential crime - one that should have been prosecuted by the U.S. Department of Justice long ago. nytimes.com/2023/03/21/nyr…

From a moral point of view Trump holding a rally in Waco is a despicable appeal to the most extremist right hate groups as a political strategy it focuses MAGA Republicans on an increasingly narrow voter base. Waco is arguably one of the cradles of the violent American far-right

My former boss AG Janet Reno famously said "the buck stops with me" about the tragic Waco raid on the Branch Davidians that resulted in deaths of 80 followers of cult leader David Koresh including himself & children. Reno had been AG less than 2 months.

Meta, Instagram, Twitter, Zuckerberg & Musk are all business people looking to make money off of reinstating Trump to their social media platforms - what is Merrick Garland's excuse?
Meta put Trump back on bc "the risk to public safety had “sufficiently receded” since January 2021" - understandable perception given the complete lack of any criminal charges against Trump or his co-conspirators.
Merrick Garland's Justice Department has been investigating Trump's role in Jan 6 insurrection for two years & all AG Garland has to show for it is a Jack Smith tee-shirt - nothing against Jack Smith who is now fully recovered from his Netherlands bicycle accident & back in USA..

Clearly a problem with packing up of non-Presidential offices and care taken with classified documents - Alberto Gonzales (when he left WH Counsel's office) Biden and now Pence.

Biden personal lawyers & WH continuing to do the right thing by fully cooperating in making sure no classified documents unaccounted for - latest search appears part of that effort - important to push back on GOP spin - unlike Trump's documents these were not known to be missing
These documents came to light due to the diligence of Biden & those who work for him. Unlike Trump & his GOP enablers President Biden & his staff immediately turned over the documents & worked to cooperate with DOJ.
