- Forcing public universities to conduct an annual “intellectual freedom and viewpoint diversity survey” with an implicit threat to punish (SB233)

- Prohibiting universities from “shielding” students from free speech that may include speech they find uncomfortable, unwelcome, disagreeable, or offensive (SB233)
WHILE ALSO
- Banning critical race theory & anything that might cause students “psychological distress” (HB7) 3/6
- Making university presidential searches secret until the final stage (SB520)
- Eroding tenure for faculty by mandating post-tenure review every 5 years (SB266)
- Removing hiring authority from the faculty and giving it to the university president (SB266)

- Sanitizing the content of all general education courses to paint a uniformly celebratory view of the US (SB266)
- Banning any programs that advance diversity, equity, and inclusion (SB266)
- Completing a hostile takeover of New College and installing hacks onto its Board

This list spans only the last 2 years and is not exhaustive. The changes to higher ed in Florida have been swift and severe. A President should seek to represent EVERYONE and I know that the Governor doesn’t want my vote. To him, professors are only pawns in the culture war. 6/6
