For a long time progressives made great strides by transferring conflicts of moral vision out of the realm of the sacred and into the realm of the scientific

By making things cold, clinical, rational, and secular the left were able to deconstruct load bearing social norms 1/🧵 Image
It's hard to sell the redefinition of marriage in a religious context, but if you can shift the discussion of sexuality to the realm of biological determinism then it becomes easy to advance your political ideology 2/
It doesn't matter if the left immediately abandons that biological determinism the minute it makes contact with any other social issue, they never really cared about the science

They just cared about the political victory it could deliver 3/
The same applies to abortion or transing kids

If children are a sacred gift then that stuff is hard to sell, but you can justify all kinds of horrific acts if children are just clumps of cells or meat legos to be rearranged for the social clout of their narcissistic parents 4/
Secularizing evil allowed it to advance relentlessly without triggering the moral alarms, the mechanisms of terror or disgust that naturally manifest with those who are still in touch with the metaphysical side of life 5/
By stripping people of a metaphysical framework with which to process the spiritual nature of existence progressives disarmed the most powerful defense against their war on the good, the beautiful, and the true 6/
That's why people are so surprised to see stuff like this breaking through

This wasn't supposed to be real, religion is dumb and outdated right? Just some fairy stories for children

But of course it isn't, the spiritual is real and can't be erased 7/
We can lie to ourselves about the nature of the conflict but it will continue to manifest its spiritual elements regardless

The only question is: Will we intentionally blind ourselves to the reality we find ourselves in 8/ Image
The spiritual elements of this conflict will only become more apparent, not less, and this is what many "none woke liberals' are worried about

That their secular religion will lose hold as those elements continue to manifest 9/
It gets harder and harder to pretend this is all Marxism as the church of Satan shows up at these events

The woke will only become more clearly spiritual, not less, Target doesn't have a Satanist designing pride gear because of Marxism 10/
I did a video on this a few years ago but it has only become more apparent

You are watching the spiritual reassert itself with a vengeance, it was never going to be shut away forever, it will not be put neatly back in a box again 11/11

Hilariously Target is trying to avoid a Bud Light backlash by adopting the same middle of the road strategy 1/🧵
They’re trying to pull a head fake, giving one minor concession hoping conservatives will be satisfied

Meanwhile they turn to the LGBTQ mob and woke investors with a vague accusation of “violence” which allows them to pretend they are doing this for safety reasons 2/
As I explained previously these companies still need red America for their bottom line but they simultaneously need to appeal to the new elite religion

They can’t be seen directly concerning to the plebs 3/

Hard not to laugh at the very particular hell Anheuser put itself in

Let’s look at how the execs painted
themselves into this corner 1/🧵 Image
Bud Light appeals to red America, it bills itself as the beer of the working man

There’s a reason it’s called out by name in several country songs, this is the demographic Anheuser specifically targeted up until recently 2/
But red America is quickly becoming an unacceptable audience to appeal to, especially the white working class

It’s filled with wrong kind of people, you know, the ones who might not want to trans their kids 3/

It's pretty simple

DeSantis is your guy if you think a more buttoned down executive with serious policy execution can right the ship

Trump is your guy if you think that the most valuable thing that can be done is to discredit the entire system itself
I respect both positions though I lean heavily toward the latter

This isn't complicated and I don't understand why people are having exhausting proxies of this conversation when this is the real issue
We'll I guess I do understand it

Establishment guys and policy wonks need it to be DeSantis because otherwise their role is kind of meaningless

MAGA Inc insurgent types need it to be the latter because they are largely frozen out of the institutions

For some the hope is that if you travel far enough up the chain of elites you eventually run into a competent set that don't believe the madness that has gripped the west

Sure they would be evil, but at least they would have a plan 1/🧵
It we be easier for us to believe that clown world was manufactured by rational actors with specific ends in mind, even if those ends were plainly evil, then to admit that rationality does not rule us the way we pretend it does 2/
We would rather see our reality as shaped by cool calculating forces, no matter how malevolent they might be, than admit that something beyond our control is acting on us as individuals and a wider culture 3/

Western liberal democracies have been engaged in a story of political and social progress, believing themselves superior to all that came before 1/🧵
Popular sovereignty, rule of law, and constitutional government were supposed to protect the right of the individual from the whims of capricious rulers

That has obviously failed as democracies across the west seem to be, in unison, creating an aristocracy of favored groups 2/
Some will realize this has been happening for a long time and has been formalized in US law for decades, but the recent acceleration of naked legal favoritism based on identity and pollical affiliation has shocked many 3/

Political parties don't want dynamic leaders to win elections, dynamic leaders are individuals who aren't reliant on the party apparatus for power

Political parties want programs and ideological proscriptions that are owned by the network of institutions that depend on the party
Someone like Trump, Obama, or Reagan may be useful because of the coalition they can forge, but if they aren't willing to make themselves reliant on the machine the leader and the movement must be separated so that the part can take control
There is a very solid case that Trump is unworthy of the movement he inspired, but this is why I am skeptical of "Trumpism without Trump"

The people who want to reap the political capital or MAGA want to turn it into a disembodied set of ideological positions
