God in Us – All Things Are For Our Good

This is a word that the Lord placed on my heart again recently that is based on the famous quote from Romans 8:28. He IS indeed working all things for good for those of us who love and trust Him.

This week as part of an end-of year activity at a local Christian school where I

serve, instead of teaching my morning chapel service I gave them my testimony and told them about how the Lord got my attention back in 2007 with that brain tumor (some of them had heard it before). After many surgical procedures it eventually led to the loss of my right eye.

At the end of the testimony I told them how the Lord had always known exactly what He was doing all of my life as He prepared me. There had been no mistakes. In the end, I can see better now with one eye than I ever saw with two eyes.

Then the Lord brought to my attention the following message that I shared 10 years ago on April 8, 2013. As you read it, keep in mind that I was now 6 years into my journey following and serving the Lord after He got my attention with that tumor on April 27, 2007.

As I wrote these words, I had not yet lost my right eye. The tumor was coming back and I would lose my eye only a few months later in the summer of 2013. Notice what I said about wanting to know Him more and the cost associated with it.

Now this week here 10 years later in 2023 the Lord is leading me to use this as the basis to begin a new devotional series about the benefits (that out-weight the costs) of having Him inside of us. There are no coincidences and absolutely nothing is wasted.

To Know Him and the Power of His Resurrection
This is a word from God that has been resonating in my spirit for several days now. Its basis is in Philippians 3:10-12 and also in Romans.

“That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect:

but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 3:10-12

I can relate so very much to what Paul was saying here and the passion with which he was saying it. With every passing day, I yearn to know Him more and look

for Him in everything that I experience. I long to know the power of His resurrection, elsewhere Paul calls it the same power that raised Jesus from the dead and says that if we are His, that same power dwells within us (Romans 8:11). I want to know more of Him and more of that

power. Finally, the great thing is that as much as I want this, my Father wants it even more (I think I am pursuing Him but He is actually pursuing me). Oh Hallelujah! I’m not holding on to Him, HE IS HOLDING ON TO ME!!

As I go forward with more challenges in my physical body

and imperfections of my flesh, of this I am certain… that I want to know Him no matter what the cost.

The word of God is like the gift of eternal life that He gives us. It is freely given to all, but not all will accept or receive it.

But for those who do, it is extremely personal (but not private).

This has been personal to me but not private. Word of God speak.
