@MichaelSteranka First of all, that individual's behavior is reprehensible. Your wife and child are beautiful and enjoy a fatherhood!
@MichaelSteranka However, in regards to #HearUsNiantic, your company is tone deaf and seems to be completely disconnected from the reality of its players. The nerf to remote raids is pretty much universally hated by your players. You can do better.
@MichaelSteranka I'm a player who has spent thousands of hours in the game and thousands of dollars as well. I've done a number of trips playing the game, including to Safari Zone Seville and Go Fest both in Chicago and Seattle. I even have a t-shirt with the QR code for my trainer code on it.
@MichaelSteranka I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of communities, both local and online. During some hard times in my life, my Pokémon Go friends have been lifesavers and kept me going when times were rough.
@MichaelSteranka A little over a year ago I enjoyed grinding to level 50, netting 13 million experience in about 6 weeks so that I could hit level 50 with my friends in Seville. I'm not as hardcore as some, but I have thoroughly enjoyed the game.
@MichaelSteranka Until now...
@MichaelSteranka A friend once told me that when somebody shows you who they are, believe them. Well, when a company shows me what they are, I have to believe that as well. And Niantic seems to be showing us that it doesn't really care about it's players and how they want to play the game.
@MichaelSteranka First and foremost, the changes to remote raids are disastrous for those who are disabled, live in rural areas, or are otherwise unable to play in person. And the fact that Niantic doesn't seem to care about this, one of its most important types of players, is beyond sad.
@MichaelSteranka I have Pokémon Go friends that I haven't seen in years, but I have thoroughly enjoyed being able to include in raids because I knew they were unable to get out and about and do them in person. I can't do that anymore. Five raids a day is just not enough.
@MichaelSteranka And the raising of the cost of remote raid passes is ludicrous. I can't justify giving the kind of money to Niantic that I used to, before the company gave its community the middle finger.
@MichaelSteranka On top of it all, I don't frankly believe Niantic made the changes for the reasons they claim. There have been ample fantastic suggestions as to how to encourage people to raid in person that don't require limiting remote raiding as has been done.
@MichaelSteranka Here's a great video by Billy of @thetrainerclubb with great ideas.
@MichaelSteranka @thetrainerclubb I barely play these days. I have some heavy days and weeks, like when I was on a vacation to Yellowstone National Park last week. But I barely raid at all anymore. While I normally would be excited about the shadow Mewtwo stuff this weekend, I'm not even sure I'm going to join.
@MichaelSteranka @thetrainerclubb And that's somebody who did 200+ Mewtwo raids last year attempting to nab a hundo, never got the hundo, and planned on going hardcore next time Mewtwo came out again. No new features are going to satisfy the community.
@MichaelSteranka @thetrainerclubb The only thing that will satisfy the community will be actually listening to us and our feedback about the remote raid changes. I don't expect things go back to exactly the way they were. However, a reversion needs to occur and it needs to demonstrate you're actually listening.
@MichaelSteranka @thetrainerclubb Until then, I'll be one of many players who now take the game very casually and may someday end up quitting.
