were cars parked all the way along the road on the pavement and anywhere else they could park. This meant that it was dangerous for pedestrians and cars alike along the road with people opening driver doors onto the road, pedestrians with their animals walking in the road….
And myself having to avoid all of these obstacles by either stopping of having to drive on the cats eyes in the middle of the double white lines in the middle of the road while at the same time…
Trying to avoid cars on the other side. It’s appalling it’s the same at this time of the year every year where this road becomes super dangerous and impassable, I avoid it most days! Surely It’s time double yellow lines were added to the rd, please advise who do I need to reach
out too to raise this issue, more importantly can someone go down there today and ensure that this doesn’t happen for the rest of the week it really is not acceptable to anyone to have to experience this! #roadsafety#lookafteryourcommunity
Let’s ensure it’s not because of a fatality that action wrt road safety is taken. Let’s be proactive rather than reactive where road safety is concerned in a busy tourist area such as Windermere #preventionbetterthanacure

Take a look at the pictures in Bowness today and comments from locals. It really is time that someone acts on the defiance of visitors of adhering to proper parking in the area. Mr Monk and many others also concerned about the parking on Rayrigg rd….
We have a serious problem that is going to get worse as we move into the summer. Really would be grateful that this is talked about at the right levels and to the right people. I have noted my concerns officially on Council highways website! My reference is EI/153782 thank you!
This morning on the glebe opposite the on street parking and pitch and putt! A police car and police van drive past and didn’t do a thing! Noticed this morning that there were yellow cones on Rayrigg road this morning from Miller ground towards Bowness for a stretch….
Why not once & for all get a TRO raised for consultation for double yellows instead? We have just had them put on Birch St in Windermere 🤷🏻♀️& they are on Birthwaite Rd in Windermere that is not even a through road 🤷🏻♀️or were there brown paper envelopes involved here in the process!

Further to my tweet thread over the weekend I have had a response from @WandFHighways …. “Our team have established a plan of action for your enquiry and we would like to tell you about it….
With reference to your enquiry regarding parking issues on Rayrigg Road. A member of our team has assessed your enquiry and confirmed that this location has been listed for consideration of funding for the introduction of parking restrictions….
At the present time, budgets in Westmorland and Furness Council are being determined.”
Here’s hoping a budget is allocated to action the restriction on Rayrigg Road wrt parking in the north so distant future and before the summer season ends when it is most critically needed….
