City council Leader @cllrsusanbrown dismissing a local alliance that has been in place for over 4 years, gaining 13 seats from the Conservatives and pushing them into a minority as a "rag tag coalition". Labour wouldn't have had the chance of being in joint control without us
This demonstrates what we're up against in Cherwell. Labour's dismissive and arrogant attitude about a long standing alliance group who have held the Tories to account for 4 years while Labour cosy up to them on local plans and other important policies.
And just to correct the claim that Labour's the largest Party. They're not. They're a coalition of The Labour Party and Labour & Cooperative party. They're even listed separately on the council website. They at best match the Lib Dems with 10 seats although that's not certain.
And I note that @cllrsusanbrown hasn't had a problem with West Oxfordshire District Council's alliance of Labour, Greens and Lib Dems. Or the same groups on the County Council. Or are those also "rag tag coalitions"? In which case will she be advocating Labour withdrawing?
As one of the founder members of the The Progressive Oxfordshire Group which was formed in 2019, I resent @cllrsusanbrown's sneery, I'll-informed diatribe and invite her to apologise to the 14 members of that group who remain as the official opposition on Cherwell DC
Especially as it's widely recognised that we've been doing the job of holding the Tories to account for the past 4 years after Labour failed in that task for the previous 19 years. We invited Labour to be part of that and instead they chose to hand power back to the Tories AGAIN
The people of Cherwell did indeed know what they were voting for and that was to #GTTO. For their own reasons @BanburyLabour chose to ignore that as was made clear by the presenter on #PoliticsSouth. In Cherwell, it's also clear that if you vote Labour you get Tory.
