One of the most Shakespearean moments of the Succession finale is the tragic singing of Robert Burns "Green Grow the Rashes" -- there's always a somber rustic tune before the bloodbath.
The mock crowning ritual where they're all just kids in their mother's kitchen-- truly a sublime work of art, I don't think a television show has had better writing than this.
There's tons of direct allusions to Shakespeare throughout, & it strikes a truly Shakespearean tone of tragic-comedy -- the dialogue is masterful in its psychological realism, each character having idiosyncratic speech patterns which are not "stereotyped"
It will be a joy to rewatch now that its conclusion is solidified. It's a perfect ending, all the seeds are planted from episode one & it all comes to fruition. It really feels "fully fleshed out" & not at all like most shows where you can tell they're "making it up as they go"

The problem with being a “country of refugees” is that all the refugees bring their hostility to the regime they fled from & then all these resentments compile together into the Global America ideology which seeks to redress the grievances of its refugee populations.
America is now full of Anti-Communist Hispanics, Asians, Europeans, &c. America has a bunch of “anti-regime” refugees who then as second & third gen immigrants “speak on behalf of their people” from within american institutions.
We have essentially reversed the polarity of “refugee victims” into “capital flight traitors & opportunists”— the fleeing oligarchs come to America, keep their money safe, & their children write books about how terrible the revolutions that chased their grandparents out were.
Americans are schizophrenic now because it is governed by the elite populations which fled Europe during the World Wars & took control of the ideological apparatus-- you have a bunch of Anti-Communist Europeans claiming to represent "American Values."
Americans in America were supporters of Communism-- Communism was popular amongst the American population as a whole-- Stalin was a hero, "Uncle Joe" for Americans-- a massive effort had to be made to reprogram the American Ideology after the World Wars.
This was called "Consolidation Propaganda" -- & it was produced by elite europeans (yes-- including many Eastern European jews)-- but this was also the introduction of figures like Nietzsche into the American Ideology-- before WWII, Americans did not give a shit about Nietzsche.
It's very annoying to me when British/Aussie accented "Far Rightists" start lecturing me (descendant of Mayflower pilgrims) about how America is fundamentally founded upon "European Values" & that the Bible is "Jewish" & "not European"
My paternal familial line has been in New England for 4 Centuries. I'm not a "European."
I'm an American-- I was born an American, & wherever I die, I'll die an American. I could rescind my citizenship, expatriate, & live on the other side of the Globe & I will still be an American by birth.
You ever just look around at America & wonder what the hell everyone’s so busy doing— I’m surrounded by an infinite array of financial & legal services, a byzantine labyrinth of law offices, insurance corporations, accounting firms, bureaucracies, & what are they doing?
The rule of law here is so unfathomably complicated that it’s a multitrillion dollar industry to “maintain compliance” & then there’s the other multitrillion dollar industry of maintaining & reforming the legal code, infinite law suits, endless accounting. Common Law is so stupid
We’re an empire of criminals that worships the “rule of law” & the shamans who know the loopholes to the rule of law. Future anthropologists will find our society unfathomable.

People act like it's not possible for a collapse here like the collapse of the Soviet Union or the fall of Babylon or the Dark Ages of late roman antiquity-- all "political awareness" is premised on the notion that this is not what is happening, as if "there's time to change… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
