2/5 After months of covering the war in Ukraine, Sarah did what few others would have the courage to do - she enlisted in the Ukrainian Army.
3/5 Sarah is a person of profound integrity. Whip-smart. Brilliant analyst. Powerful advocate. Great listener. And because she is trans, she is also a favorite target of Russian media. Russian hate and bigotry are not a surprise, of course.
4/5 A couple of months ago Sarah was wounded in combat in Ukraine. While recovering, she had meetings stateside, came back west to touch base at home, and yesterday, having been cleared for active duty, flew back to Ukraine to rejoin her unit.
5/5 We were lucky enough to be able to get together for a few hours before her flight.
My wife and I haven't enough words of gratitude and respect for all Sarah is doing, on the battlefield and in the information space. She's one of the good guys, and we're honored to know her.
