Show me a person between 35 & 55 & I'll tell you which school they went to. Turi, Greensteds, Banda, Hilcrest, Pembroke, Peponi. Even in the lower tiers I can tell. Saints, Msogangari, Imani, St Austins. Even lower than that I can tell, Patch, lenana, alliance, Mangu, Starehe.
We'll start with the lower tier. These institutions each had their own ethos, raison d'etre, identity. Mangu for instance, focused on academic excellence. Particularly in the sciences. Their boys are well adjusted, slightly boring, but disciplined across all aspects. Polite too.
Starehe seems to have churned out boys who want to give back to the community..using their skills and talent for the advancement of society. Most are socially awkward, but charitable.
Alliance have an inflated sense of self. Very individualistic. Believe they can manipulate ppl and reality to their advantage. Limited philosophical ability. Scope but no depth. Great talkers, confident, social butterflies, charming. Refined wordsmiths. Socially competitive.
Of all the lower tier schools, Alliance kiddos came out with the most fragile egos. Whilst Mangu, boys seemed to have been moulded to evolve past the ego.
Strathmore peeps are pedantic, particular & OCD when it comes to career & self. This meticulous socialisation seeps into their personal lives making them almost robotic in their interactions. Rules orientated, zero personality or flair. These folks excelled in computer science.
For those asking about tiers... here's what a top tier school looks like.
On to Lenana. Genrally well adjusted. Socially adept. Not go getters. Non achievers. Likely to reach senior management but not c-suite level. Second to Mangu in terms of honour as a virtue. Party animals.
Patch were deluded into thinking they were rich kids. Produced lots of creatives. Outgoing folk. The makangas of National schools. Fun loving. Non-jugdemental. Open books. No air of mystery about them.
Saints. These were the original 'you guy, my guy' clique. St Mary's folk were exposed somewhat giving them a different edge. Academia was not central to their identity. Looks, popularity & machismoism is what mattered. Still the case. Not the brightest lot. Softies. Well spoken
Kabarak folk had an ushamba about them. Most were Moi projects and still very grounded in their culture beforehand. Quietly confident but naively entitled. Proud and religious. Introverted, gentle and mid level intelligence. Many are in Australia.
Alliance- feigned confidence, manupaltive. Shallow.
Starehe - society orientated. Service. Giving back to country. Kind.
Lenana - Party animals. Simpletons. Affable.
Mangu - hounarable, trustworthy. Bland.
Strathmore- Nerdy, boring. Dependable.
Saints. Clicky. C grade. Fun.
Hizo zingene Kangumo, mara maseno, etc, zijiui. I don't think I've interacted with them.

In KE we meddle with systems and are surprised when there's repercussions. Democracy, as a system has checks and balances, opposition, separation of powers, media, civil service. Ruto has meddled with the system in buying out all opposition & is now unhappy about demonstrations.
People are not going to the streets because of Raila, but because there is no other avenues to air their grievances. You meddled with the system. Raila now has support of all your disgruntled hustlers. Which is many.
Buying out his ppl, has actually led to him having a bigger following. I didn't support Raila before, but in watching the excesses of the governmen, I fully support the demonstrations and consequently Raila.
Hapo kwa spin doctor 101, you are taught about dominant discourse. Framing national conversations with what might deflect from what actually matters. Tax talk is attempting to dominate the real issue, which is rising cost of living. And its the president driving that narrative.
Instead of resolving the actual issue at hand, with policy, strategy, initiatives etc., we are being distracted by this tax talk. This my friends, is politics, not leadership.
But the one thing you cannot distract a people from, is hunger. Hunger is in the stomach, not the mind. Moi knew this only too well. Food was always affordable, allowing him to play politics, steal, dictate etc. Feed the ppl first, then play politics.
Exposure is everything. If you get the chance, live outside the country for a few years. If you can, take your kids to uni abroad.
There's no substitute for exposure and no other way to experience life through another lense other than cultural immersion.
I interact with ppl so anchored to their ways/views thinking that this is how life is and not aware, that somewhere there's folks who believe the opposite, the inverse, or are at the other end of the spectrum and, are just as vehemently tied to their beliefs.
Think Nabii is running a class devide campaign. Poor folk not getting services will blame rich folk for not paying their taxes. Typical electioneering politics.
Soon you'll hear hospitals shutting down, gov schools closing, insecurity on the rise.. reason? Rich folk not paying their taxes.
This tax rhetoric has no basis. Those who were actually not paying tax, HK, Keroche, etc, are now in his gov. Tax talk is merely a diversionary tactic to keep poor folk tranquillised as cost of living becomes unbearable.
All this tax talk. No country has ever taxed itself out of poverty, let alone into development. Only industrialisation can take Kenya to the next level. Nothing else. Nothing. If anything GoK should be creating tax incentives for foreign investors to set up plants here.
If we felt where our taxes are going, we'd willingly pay. But I have to pay for education, security, healthcare... whilst my taxes go to Sakaja's helicopter rides, and Karen Nyamu salary for tickets to Dubai. Herein lies the reluctance to pay and thus KRA feeling like the enemy.
Take for instance, hustler fund. 50B. 50B would build 50 factories each employing 1000+ ppl. Creating 50,000 jobs. Those employed (mid+senior management) would in turn employ drivers, gardeners etc. Creating another 2000 jobs. Plus factory would be making profits/exporting etc.
