Cilliers Brink, Tshwane Executive Mayor, says the #CholeraOutbreak has led to a breach of trust between government and communities.

He said they are working hard to mend that trust. TCG

Brink emphasises that traces of cholera have not been found at the Rooiwal waste water treatment plant. TCG

Cilliers Brink, Tshwane Executive Mayor, said today’s briefing is to fill the vacuum of information in terms of what the municipality has been doing in terms of contact tracing, water testing and other responses to the cholera outbreak. TCG

Officials from the #Choleraoutbreak Disaster Management Centre is now giving a presentation on its latest work.

Over the last 24 hours there has been 23 new cholera cases however no deaths. TCG

Kanana in Hammanskraal has been identified as the epicentre of the #CholeraOutbreak with the highest number of cases.

A mobile healthcare centre has been set-up in the area. TCG

So far, a total of 157 water samples have been collected with 45 showing no positive traces of cholera.

The water samples have been taken from schools, rivers, foods, funeral parlours, swabs (people) and other sources. TCG

These are the water tankers that have been sampled and they had no traces of cholera. TCG

The #CholeraOutbreak Disaster Operating Centre has also activated police to be on the look-out for water un-authorised delivery of water.

Only water tankers approved by the municipality are allowed to distribute water in Hammanskraal. TCG

Contact tracing for the #CholeraOutbreak remains a major concern for the Disaster Operations Centre with many people not providing their physical address. TCG

Kwena Nkoko, Acting Chief Operations Officer in Tshwane Health Department, said the water testing results are approved by several scientific bodies. TCG

Cilliers Brink, Tshwane Executive Mayor, said un-authorised water tankers selling water to the people Hammanskraal will face prosecution.

He said the municipality cannot verify where they are getting their water from. TCG

Kwena Nkoko, Acting Chief Operations Officer in the Tshwane Health Department, said it is too early to determine trends on the #CholeraOutbreak .

He said he hopes that work being done on the ground will see cases drop over the next weeks. TCG

Cilliers Brink, Tshwane Executive Mayor said the capital city spends between R350 - R400 million a year on hiring water tankers.

Senzo Mchunu, Minister of Water and Sanitation, said he was approached earlier this month in Cape Town by Cilliers Brink, Tshwane Mayor over issues on upgrades to the Rooiwal Waste Water Treatment plant.

Mchunu said this shows Brink’s willingness to work together. TCG

#DrNandiphaMagudumana has appointed Advocate Anton #Katz to deal with her Free State High Court urgent application to declare her arrest and deportation in Tanzania unlawful. Katz is considered a leading expert in the field of international law.

#Katz is arguing that Magudumana's deportation was in fact a "disguised extradition" as there was "collusion between SA and the Tanzanian officials to hand the person over." He says it was clearly an extradition and not a deportation according to international law.

#Katz is basing his argument on a ruling made by the Constitutional Court in a 2001 judgment of #Mohamed and Another v President of the Republic of South Africa and Others - Mohamed was a Tanzanian citizen wanted in the US and was handed over to the #FBI by the SA government.

Health minister Joe Phaahla gives an update on the health department’s efforts to tackle Cholera. AR

Phaahla says there have not been reports of new cholera related deaths in Tshwane, but the number of confirmed cases now sits at 99. He says only two people have succumbed to the disease in the last seven days.

Phaahla says while there could be speculations that the source of the cholera outbreak is in the water, official and formal evidence has not been provided to back this up. He insists that investigations could reveal a different source.

The children died in a car accident in Mitchells Plain yesterday when the bakkie transporting them to school rolled multiple times and hit a traffic light. The driver has been arrested on a culpable homicide charge and will appear in court tomorrow @NtuthuzeloNene

Ramaphosa is cited in the challenge he's brought to his private prosecution as "The Preisdent of the Republic of South Africa".

Zuma's position is that he can't bring it in his official capacity because he's being privately prosecuted in his personal capacity.
