Just a few years ago, when people who supported Democrats said, "We could win if we all vote!", trolls who pretended to be leftists laughed and said, "Yeah! Vote harder! LOL! You're still gonna lose!"
And then we won in 2018 and 2020 and did damn fucking good in 2022.
1/3
Those "LOL! Vote harder!" folks are now pretending they were not mocking the idea of voting, but rather mumble something mumbleflex something. Because we proved voting works. Voting elects the people we need to have in office.
And the "leftists" were never honest.
2/3
The "LOL! Yeah, vote harder!" folks don't want Democrats in office. I don't know what they want, but they're scared spitless that you're gonna vote and elect Democrats. Which means they're clearly not on the side of democracy, or of, well, anything American.
Ignore them.

P.S.
Vote harder. It works.

Weird thing about conspiracy theory cultists. They have their own language and code words, and the traffic in insane ideas that seem natural to them.
The alt-left (which could well be primarily a Russian psyops) does this just as much as the QAnon right.

No, I'm not bothsidesing this, because extremism is really only one side. You know, horseshoe theory (which is really more like a teardrop that draws the ends of the horseshoe together to a single point).
Anyway, I stumbled across this account.

I'll call it a "he", though it could have been a housewife working in a trollfarm, for all I know. Anyway, he insisted voting wasn't good enough. We had to get rid of gerrymandering. I can't disagree with that, so I asked, how do we get rid of gerrymandering?

Too many supposed "leftists" insist if everything Democrats value didn't get enacted in two years, that means Dems didn't really want it hard enough.
They think wishing makes it so, which means if it doesn't come to pass, Dems didn't really want it, and must be lying.

Part of the problem here rests in not knowing how government works, or how democracy works. The Real World™ is messy and undependable, and a true democracy allows even people who are opposed to democracy to slow things down.
Democracy must act slowly.

It takes time to change the course of a ship that has three hundred million people at the rudder. "Leftists" want to impose their vision upon everyone else.
Imposing one's own view (even the right view) on everyone else is the definition of autocracy.
Here's Will setting up a straw man to pretend more Democrats is a bad thing, and not voting is a good thing--when presented with two examples of the opposite of that.
Here's Will, descending into mindless name-calling and telling outright lies, because none of his anti-voting arguments make any sense. Lies and insults are all he's got.
Here's Will, insisting that people in a state can't vote themselves out of a gerrymander when presented with a case wherein the people in the state voted themselves out of a gerrymander.
Here's Will, objecting to using democratic methods to save democracy, as if using fascists methods would be better. Burning down the village always saves it, right?
Ron DeSantis, Clarence Thomas, Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell are all prime examples of fascist authoritarian kleptocrats. They come to power through fear-mongering, destroy the institutions of democracy once they're there, and use their positions to enrich themselves.

I chose those four as exemplars of the breed. Kevin McCarthy, Maggie Three Names, Lauren Boebert, George Santos--in fact, every single elected Republican, and several appointed to our courts--also all fit the mold, or aspire to do so.

Trump's cabinet consisted entirely of stupendously unqualified thieves. This is how fascist kleptocrats operate. They surround themselves with equally criminal underlings, who all engage in their mob enterprises, thus creating a defensive shell of mutual support.

From the time I was 10, I wasn't satisfied with the "children's section" of the public library, and insisted on being allowed to check out books from the "adult section." It didn't do me any harm, but it made me into exactly the sort of person the Fascist Republicans hate.
1/4
Help kids read the books Fascist Republicans want to ban. Don't force it on them--that makes kids not want to read those books, and maybe even not want to read at all. Instead, tell them there are Other People who want to prevent them from knowing what's there.

Kids let you know what they're ready for, and when they're ready for it. If they ask questions, listen to them carefully, and answer what they ask (no more, no less), without preconceptions about what they "should" know. They'll ask the right questions at the right time.
