You might remember Eric Cantona as a philosopher-king with a penchant for kung fu kicks.

But there's so much more. He knocked out teammates in training, wore strap-ons in sex scenes and threatened to piss on the Pope.

This is the story of King Cantona... ImageImage
Our story begins in Auxerre, where 21-year-old Eric Cantona is sent off for this horrific kung fu tackle. Yes, really.

Soon after, he knocks out a France teammate in training.

Banished from the national side, Eric brands the manager a "sac á merde" (a bag of shit) on live TV.
At an FA hearing, he tells each panel member one-by-one: "you are an idiot" and flees to Leeds.

But he falls out with his manager and faxes a transfer request, beginning: “The salmon that idles its way downstream will never leap the waterfall.”

They flog him to Man United.
He helps United win a first title in 26 years, but things turn ugly when he's sent off in Turkey.

A policeman attacks Cantona from behind with a baton, and Eric is restrained by 6 teammates as he threatens to "kill that fucker".

It's an ominous sign of what's to come...
In 1995, Cantona is sent off against Crystal Palace.

Hooligan Matthew Simmons charges down to the front row and yells "Fuck off back to France" and "your mum is a French whore".

Cantona launches a flying kung fu kick at him, and follows up with an underrated roundhouse too.
Amid public outcry, Eric escapes to Guadeloupe.

But he's followed there by the press, and ends up punching an ITV reporter who photographs his wife.

Then he pops up on French TV promising to "piss in the ass" of journalists and, for some reason, the pope.
He returns to face an FA hearing and offer an apology:

"I'd like to apologise to my teammates. I want to apologise to the FA. And I would like to apologise to the prostitute who shared my bed last night."

They ban him for 8 months and he still has to face a criminal trial. Image
Matthew Simmons, the fan he kicked, is also on trial.

He's found guilty, despite insisting he only said: "It's an early bath for you, Mr Cantona!"

In a moment of mad courtroom drama, Simmons strangles a prosecuting lawyer and launches his own kung fu kick at Cantona's lawyer. ImageImage
Initially jailed for 2 weeks, Eric appeals and gets community service.

He walks straight to a press conference and delivers a single line:

"When the seagulls follow the trawler, it is because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea".

After that, he walks out.
He's now the most famous footballer in the country, but it doesn't go to his head.

Even when he's earning £500k a year, Cantona still lives in a modest suburban house and drives a banged up old motor.

Great fleece though.
After 8 months out, Cantona returns to help United win two more titles, before retiring at 30.

He takes up acting instead, strapping on a prosthetic penis to play a character called The Stud.

Film critics describe it as "soft-core porn". Image
After his retirement, Alex Ferguson sends him this letter. Image
When Man United beat PSG in 2019, Cantona gives Neymar's dad the 🤫 sign from his hospitality box, sparking a brawl.

Security step in and lead a smirking Cantona away.

He later takes the piss out of Neymar's haircut, chucking a bowl of spaghetti over his head. Image
Last year, Liam Gallagher revealed Eric refused to be paid when he appeared in his music video.

"He hired his own car, got his own hotel, brought his own food, done the fucking video and fucked off!"

"Never seen him again. That's what you call a legend." Image

Gary Neville is a bloody intense bloke.

He bollocks innocent school boys, yells at potatoes, and humiliates his own brother in front of millions of fans.

Don't tell him we wrote this, but here's the story of Sky Sports' grumpy old man... Image
Our story begins in the bungalows of Bury, where Gary relentlessly batters his little brother Phil at table tennis.

They join Man Utd, and Gary rooms with cheeky cockney David Beckham.

David decks their room with scented candles, but Gary enrages him with 5am alarm clocks. Image
When Rio Ferdinand joins the club, Gary falls victim to his famous prank show.

A stony-faced Neville is pulled in for speeding by actors dressed as cops.

They try and bribe him for photos before a cackling Rio emerges to tell Neville "You got merk'd".

You don't make it to the top without being a little weird.

Just ask Cristiano Ronaldo. The man lives on steamed fish and trains at midnight.

But it's not all vanilla. From orgies with teammates to swapping Porsches for popstars' numbers, this is the story of Cristiano... ImageImage
The weirdness begins in Madeira, where Cristiano Ronaldo is named after Ronald Reagan.

Aged, 7 he joins the local team. “When he didn’t have the ball, he cried. When the teammates fought, he cried," one teammate recalls.

"Ronaldo cried so much so he had the nickname 'crybaby'”. Image
But it doesn't put off Sporting Lisbon, who bring a 12-year-old Ronnie to the Portuguese capital.

And he's determined to succeed.

After overhearing other players laughing at him for being "skinny", Ronaldo sneaks out of the dorms to pump iron by moonlight. ImageImage

They don't make managers like Neil Warnock anymore.

He gave team talks naked, cut his players' toe nails and picked the team based on his wife's dreams.

So by all means enjoy this thread, but "enjoy it by being fucking disciplined"... Image
Our story begins in the late 80s, when a young Stan Collymore walks into the Notts County dressing room.

He finds manager Neil Warnock on his knees, cutting his players' toenails.

A trained chiropodist, Warnock fixes a few bunions as he guides the Magpies to the top flight. Image
In 1999, Warnock takes charge at his boyhood club Sheffield United.

On a team bonding trip to a bowling alley, he convinces the players to put £20 each in the pot for a winner-take-all game.

He then pulls out his own bowling shoes and custom ball, shoots 250 and takes the cash. Image

Wife-swapping players, sedated tiger cubs, and Ryan Giggs' erotic poetry: it's been a wild season.

From Qatar to Carlisle there have been some ludicrous stories.

As the season draws to a close, here's a rundown of the funniest moments... ImageImage
Back in pre-season, Jose Mourinho looked absolutely baffled when a Roma fan proposed to his girlfriend in front of him.

It was a pretty rogue move - unless she'd always dreamt of Venezuelan fitness coach Carlos Lalin being present for that special moment.
In September, Eddie Howe subbed himself on for Newcastle against Man City. Image

As Chelsea slip into the bottom half of the table, frustrations boil over.

After giving it large to the West Ham lot, Blues fan Billy Tarbuck is knocked out by an unexpected haymaker.

The humiliated youngster is wheeled by paramedics through a sea of jeering West Ham fans.
Back in the boardroom, Todd Boehly looks clueless again.

According to gossip newsletter Popbitch, he tells a group of agents that Chelsea have a guaranteed place in the Champions League.

"We're in it every year" he laughs, before they break the bad news... Image
As he clings on to his job, Graham Potter resorts to some very forced swearing to impress the Blues faithful.

"We'll try and win the... fucking Champions League", he stutters at a fan forum.

He's sacked with the joint-worst record in Chelsea's Premier League history.

When Roman Abramovich sold Chelsea, the fans feared the worst.

And it turns out they were right! Todd Boehly's first season in charge has been an absolute shitshow.

From dressing rooms scraps to Tuchel's sordid secret, this is the story of Chelsea's season from hell... ImageImage
In May 2022, white-toothed soccer chad Todd Boehly leads a takeover from Roman Abramovich.

Keen to prove he's not a clueless yank, he proposes his dream starting line up to Thomas Tuchel's backroom team.

It has 12 players laid out in a rare 4-4-3 formation. ImageImage
Soon Tuchel and Boehly are clashing over recruitment. Boehly brands him a "nightmare" and the pair stop speaking entirely.

Although Todd's not the only one Tuchel rubs up the wrong way.

In August, a post-match handshake with Antonio Conte turns into a macho death grip.
