Why is MSNBC allowing Trump’s former lawyer to spew wall to wall bullshit about Jack Smith’s case with minimal pushback? This isn’t journalism. It’s not even entertainment. It’s the platforming of disinformation.
At one point Trump’s former lawyer suggested the recording of Trump isn’t conclusive because it’s possible Trump was lying about having the document. This is the kind of absurd reasonable doubt nonsense a defense attorney is supposed to come up with – but that’s why you don’t…
…put someone’s criminal defense attorney live on the air. If you’re a host and you know you’re not going to be able to shoot down more than a fraction of a guest’s bullshit in real time, you don’t book that guest live. It’s reckless.
At another point Trump’s former lawyer made the absurd claim (without evidence) that Jack Smith won’t be indicting Trump for January 6th and will instead only be indicting unspecified other people, yet received little pushback for this laugh out loud claim.
We’re really supposed to believe that Jack Smith went to the trouble of convincing the courts to waive executive privilege and force a former U.S. Vice President to testify to the grand jury, and it was all just to indict some peons? Come on, this doesn’t pass the laugh test.
But it’s why you don’t book a guest you know is going to spew nonstop bullshit. If it’s ten minute interview, even if you manage to shoot down 50% of it in real time, you’re still helping put a full five minutes of disinformation out there, live, to a million viewers.
And no, this wasn’t made okay by the fact that the host then put a legal expert on the air immediately afterward, to pick apart some of Trump’s former lawyer’s false claims. People change the channel.
So now a large chunk of MSNBC’s audience just came away with the fear that Jack Smith is going to let Trump off the hook for 1/6, simply because Trump’s former lawyer pulled that claim out of his ass and the MSNBC host failed to point out why it’s such an unrealistic claim.
But then this is the same MSNBC who spent the entire budget standoff misleading its audience into believing that a default was likely, and even spent the past few days misleading its audiences into believing the budget bill was in danger of not passing.

Just so much bullshit.
And yet MSNBC, which routinely shovels misleading and false information at its audience by the gallon, is orders of magnitude better than any of its counterparts like CNN or Fox News.

Which is pretty damn scary for the nation if you think about it.
What’s remarkable is that MSNBC, which routinely shovels false and misleading narratives at his audience by the gallon, is far better than its counterparts such as CNN or Fox News.

And that’s pretty damn scary for the public discourse when you think about it.

Trump is now so desperate, he has his former lawyer out there claiming Trump won't be indicted for classified documents because Hillary Clinton supposedly did the same thing. And the media is running with this bullshit as if it were plausible. The media makes me want to vomit.
First of all, it's a defense attorney's job to go out there and pretend that his client is going to get off the hook. And the media knows that.

It's the media's job to PUSH BACK against this kind of bullshit for the sake of the truth, not amplify it for ratings.
Second, there's no factual or legal correlation whatsoever between Trump's actions and Hillary's actions.

Again, it's the media's job to SHOOT DOWN obvious bullshit, not put that bullshit in a headline in a way that falsely gives credibility and plausibility to it.

DeSantis’ approval rating in Florida is back below 50%.

National media spent all of 2022 hyping DeSantis as unstoppable, because it wanted him reelected, so he could run in 2024 and it could get ratings out of him.

If the media hadn’t propped him up, he’d have lost reelection.
DeSantis’ approval rating in Florida was underwater for much of his first term. He was not on track to win reelection until the national media (on the left and right) bailed him out by portraying him as unstoppable and inevitable. So Democratic voters in Florida simply gave up.
Now that DeSantis has had to step onto the national stage, everyone is seeing that he’s a weak joke, and he’s collapsing so badly that even his approval rating in Florida is plummeting back down to where it was a year or two ago.

Even Florida never liked him all that much.

Remember, Merrick Garland already declined Trump team’s request for a meeting.

If a meeting is happening, it would be Smith informing them that Trump is being indicted.

BUT Smith wouldn’t leak such a thing, so this is probably coming from Trump’s lawyers, making it unreliable. Image
Not questioning the reporter’s credibility. Just pointing out that if this came from Trump’s team, it’s as unreliable as anything else that comes from Trump’s team.

If this is coming from Smith, then indictment is imminent.

But what are the odds this is coming from Smith?
One guess would be that with the grand jury reportedly back in session this week, Trump’s lawyers know they’re out of time. So they’re leaking that a meeting is taking place, hoping to convince Trump that they’re “doing something” to try to save him.

Chris Licht's downfall is a timely reminder that for major news outlets, only ratings and revenue matter. Doesn't matter about political ideology or what "side" you're on. Ratings and revenue were in freefall under Licht, so CNN's corporate overlords demoted him. That simple.
Recent reporting suggests that Licht is one of those amoral zombies who wants to force everyone to believe the left and right are morally equivalent, and that he's also an asshole to everyone. But none of that would have hurt him, if he'd been able to boost ratings and revenue.
Most people still don't understand that Rupert Murdoch created Fox News to make money, not to drive right wing ideology. Sure, Murdoch is a right winger. But so what? Cable news networks deliver billions of dollars in profit when ratings are good. These things are about money.

Right wingers are, simply put, society's losers. Their life didn't turn out like they hoped and they're bitter about it, which makes it easy for the wealthy and powerful to convince them that progress, or some other group that wants equality, is at fault for their unhappy life.
Right wingers are so broken, so far removed from thoughtfulness or empathy, it takes almost nothing to convince them to get on board with every revenge plot against mainstream America that the Republicans cook up in any given election cycle.
In that sense American right wing ideology is literally a psychosis. It's a depraved, violent, hallucinatory psychosis that's precisely in line with the psychosis that drives suicide bombers and the like. It's the willingness to lose everything just to feel righteous revenge.

Can't stop laughing at these Twitter pundits who are saying "this Trump recording puts pressure on Jack Smith to indict Trump." Uh, no. Jack Smith is the one who uncovered the recording. He's built his Trump indictment around it. What are these pundits even talking about?
They're still portraying this as Jack Smith and the DOJ, scared to death to indict Trump, trying to find "courage" to do it, and now feeling "pressure" due to this recording.

These types always have it 180 degrees backwards from reality.
Jack Smith is the one who dug in and uncovered this recording so he could indict Trump!

How in the name of hell could Jack Smith feel "pressured" by the evidence that he dug up. He dug it up!
