“Oh come on, asshole! Pick up! You’re never away from your phone!”
Johnny’s loud, annoyed voice pierced through the calm, gentle atmosphere of the apartment he had apparently forgotten he had shared with another human being.
“What the hell is with all this shouting?” Kyle asked as he walked into the lounge, only to find his best friend sat on the ground, multiple laptops strewn at his feet. “Is that my laptop? Why the hell do you have my laptop?!”
“I need it. For research.” Johnny fired back
easily, not even looking up at his friend as Kyle moved to sit on the couch above him.
“Research? What kind of research?” He asked, cradling the cup of tea he had in his hands.
“I need to figure out what-“ Johnny started to say, but he quickly cut himself off as he threw a
sheepish gaze up at the other man. “I am trying to figure out what Simon’s last name is.”
“Oh my god, you’re such a stalker.” Kyle said, letting out a rather hearty laugh.
“I just want to know if he’s… into men.” Johnny coughed awkwardly, turning back to his research.
“It’s important, Kyle! That kid had to come from somewhere, okay? I am many things, but I am not a man who will flirt with someone whose married!”
“I’ve seen you flirt with many married people in my life.” Kyle said with a rather amused shrug.
“Okay, not the time asshole.”
Johnny muttered, punching in a number on his phone before it began to ring again.
“Who you calling?” Kyle hummed, but his question was soon answered as the person on the other end of the phone picked up and began to shout immediately.
“Johnny, stop fucking calling me it’s
3am here!”
“Morning Alex!” Johnny chimed happily, ignoring the judgmental gaze from his best friend.
“You called our CIA agent best friend to help you stalk this man?!” Kyle whispered, his face riddled with shock and judgement.
Johnny just waved him off, turning his attention
back to the phone.
“Alex I really need your help.”
“It better be important seen as you’ve woken me up this early.” Alex groaned from the other end of the phone. “I’ve got work in the morning.”
“Uh- yeah-“ Johnny stammered, scouring his brain for some sort of excuse
that didn’t make him sound like an absolute crazy person.
“I need your help finding out someone’s name.” Johnny started. “He lives next door to me and Ky and we think he might be a little shady.”
“Oh come on.” Kyle whispered, rolling his eyes at the other man. He was sure Alex
would call bullshit immediately but it was three in the morning for him, and Alex just groaned.
“What do you know about him?” He asked groggily.
“His name is Simon and he works at the fire station down the road from us.” Johnny informed him.
“I live in America bro,
I have no idea what ‘down the road’ means.”
“Oh. Right.”
Kyle then watched as Johnny gave their best friend all of their personal information over the phone, rolling his eyes the entire time.
He had no idea how anyone could be this obsessed with a man. Especially a man
who didn’t like him.
But he supposed he had done a few Facebook stalking sessions in his time.
A few moments later, Alex’s voice rattled through the phone speakers again.
“Simon Riley, that’s his name.” He said simply. “You know what I say, Johnny. Never trust a man with
two first names.”
“He’s got a point.” Kyle whispered with a grin.
“Okay whatever.” Johnny spoke up finally, rolling his eyes. “Thanks for your help Keller, we will take it from here.”
“Be safe, this dude looks intense.” Alex chuckled before very quickly ending the call,
it was clear he just wanted to go back to sleep.
Now with the information he needed, Johnny put the phone down and immediately got to work.
Kyle watched as his best friend trawled through his Facebook page, his Instagram page and even his linkedin page.
There was a few
moments of silence before Johnny finally whirled around to face his friend with a grin plastered across his face.
“No mention of a partner. And guess what? He posted the rainbow flag last pride.”
“That could mean anything.” Kyle sighed. “Don’t get ahead of yourself man.”
“Already am ahead of myself!” Johnny shouted as he jumped to his feet, racing into his room.
Kyle could only sit and watch as the other man scrambled to get himself together, he had never seen his other half be this down bad for a man in his life.
And frankly, Kyle wasn’t going
to get involved.
He just sat there and sipped his tea.
Soon enough Johnny had found a hoodie that wasn’t stained with some sort of mystery fluid and looked halfway presentable.
Because of their little hiccup yesterday, Annabelle had left one of her barbie dolls in their
apartment and it was the perfect opportunity and excuse to end up at Simons door once again.
“Wish me luck.” Johnny said, waving the doll in his friends face.
Kyle just shook his head.
“Nope. I Hope he shuts the door in your face, loser!”
“You’ll be eating your words!”
Johnny shouted back, turning to throw the door to their apartment open.
However before he could stride confidently into the hallway he was stopped by the wall of a man standing right outside of his door, his hand raised to knock.
“Oh.” Was all Johnny said, staring
the man he was just stalking moments ago directly in the eyes.
“Hi.” Was all Simon said, tilting his head ever so slightly. “Sorry for the late call, I just finished my shift.”
“I- uh- it’s totally fine.” Johnny blurted out. “What can I do for you?”
“Well, I wanted to make
Sure you were okay after the… bump.” He chuckled, motioning to the giant bruise on Johnny’s forehead. “And the little ones been missing Mike.”
“Mike?” Johnny blinked in shock.
“The doll.” Simon chuckled. “Her name is Mike.”
“Well that is something.” Johnny laughed, handing
the doll over to the other man. “And thank you, but I’m alright.”
“Okay then, I’m glad.” Simon nodded, turning on his heels to walk away. “Just don’t get hurt again, alright?”
Johnny froze as he saw the other man starting to walk away. He knew he had to do something now
before it was too late. So he just hit the bullet and stepped into the hallway.
“Uh, you wouldn’t want to go for a drink sometime would you?” He shouted, cringing at the sound of his own voice.
Simon smiled slightly as he turned around to face him again.
“Are you asking me
out, Mr. Soap?” He taunted ever so slightly.
“I mean… if you’re into that?” Johnny asked, raising his brows hopefully.
Simon just grinned before turning around to leave once again.
“See you around, Mr. Soap!”

Soap: was that a yes? WAS THAT A YES?
Gaz: he rejected you so hard dude
I also just wanted to say thank you for all the support I’ve been getting for this! This is like the first time I’ve written Ghostsoap properly and I’m glad everyone enjoys it! Also thank you to all my friends who have had to put up with me screaming at them about this
cause I have no idea what I’m doing with Ghostsoap 😭 but this fic will be FINISHED extended and edited and hopefully posted on ao3 in the next week or so. We shall see.
Annabelle frowned from where she was standing next to her dad, holding tightly onto his pant leg as she waited for him to finish saying goodbye to Uncle Gary.
They were standing out in the hallway, and talking for SO long. Annabelle was getting more
They always talked for ages when one of them were supposed to leave, Annabelle wondered why they didn’t just stay!
The little girl huffed angrily, about to make her annoyance known to her father when something else caught her eye.
Soap and Kyle were stumbling up the stairs at the end of the hall. Neither of them could stay upright for more than a few seconds and they kept breaking into hysterics.
Annabelle was VERY confused.
It was like, very early in the morning! What could be so funny??
Simon found himself thrashing back and forth in his bed that night. Throwing the sheets off of himself before pulling them back on. Lying on his back. On his stomach. On his side.
“And then they all lived happily ever after.” Price sighed, closing the book he was reading for the third time that night. “Okay, time for bed little butterfly.”
“But I’m not tired!” The five year old whined, kicking her legs and proceeding to untuck
A small groan escaped Johnny’s lips as he finally shut his phone off in an attempt to sleep, but quickly became aware of the sunlight peeking through the curtains.
“More than necessary.” Simon huffed angrily from where he was sitting on the floor, currently attempting to fit another lock on the door. “You would think this would be easy.” He muttered under his breath.
