1/ Again, couldn't talk about it last night. The dystopian nightmare we are living leaves me in tears each day.
If you are explaining & not helping. Called grandstanding. This is a crisis, we need help. Reach out to ask how.
Here is what we saw/did.... #vtpoli#crisisinvt
2/ I started day emailing esd @ 7am, make sure they had an authorized rep form & fella who fell through the cracks didn't fall through again. Waited hours for a call. Found him a ride to next place he may only have until Mon. We will do this again, Mon. #vtpoli#crisisinvt
3/While waiting for hours for the call, I helped another person from the team of witnesses, help another woman who had been miscatagorized. We were able to get her back into the program. #vtpoli#crisisinvt.
4/ While I was doing that, I was helping another witness find mutual aid for someone who could stay the hotel she was at for $300/week so that we can get her connected to services we hope can help. #vtpoli#crisisinvt
5/While I was doing that, I was following up with several other witnesses about things they saw & telling them that there was nothing that could be done. #vtpoli#crisisinvt
6/ While I was doing that, I was talking to media about what the team (because we have actual teams on the ground) saw yesterday. #vtpoli#crisisinvt
7/ While I was doing that, I was trying to figure out where people are camping. While I was doing that, I was making sure that dcf was updated about all the miscatagorized folks we ran into yesterday. I dont know if that went into the abyss. #vtpoli#crisisinvt
8/ That was before 2pm. Then myself & @BekkaDuprey went to find camps because we now know how many people were miscatagorized, so we wanted to uplift & keep a list of how many others. #vtpoli#crisisinvt
9/ But in doing that we ran into someone who needed help who was disabled, couldn't see & sitting there with the tent she was given not being able to set it up. Thank goodness to a street team, because there is no designated camping, we didnt know what to do. #vtpoli#crisisinvt
10/ I could go on, but you get the picture.
A dystopian nightmare. It is terrible. Like straight horrible. And that was just my day. There were orgs and providers and 211 who all are in distress, by the lack of regard for the human beings impacted by this. #vtpoli#crisisinvt
11/ Most towns not wanting to "allow camping". As if it is a choice for these individuals. Brattleboro asked people not to hand out tents because it is "not compassionate". Excuse me?
The ugliness of poverty discrimination on full display right now in VT. #vtpoli#crisisinvt
12/ To be clear, this is not even a little bit as bad as it is about to get & it is still absolutely horrible. If we could squeeze some compassion out of those with power, we could prevent more suffering & open the program back up. #vtpoli#crisisinvt

1/ I just couldn't tweet after what I saw yesterday. I cried instead. And cried. And cried.
We are moving forward with treating human beings who need us the most in the worst ways.
We had 15 witnesses across the state & this is what we saw... #vtpoli#crisisinvt
2/ Yesterday we saw people who went to the street who were suffering from an aneurysm & collapsed lung, were on oxygen, had hip surgery, were in recovery, had severe mental illness, worked full time, & more.
3/ Yesterday people were exited who were not categorized correctly by DCF under Domestic Violence were sent back to their abusive ex or to the street. ESD is now not honoring the legislative guidance if they try to get categorized correctly through June 30. #vtpoli#crisisinvt.
I wonder what it is like to have to argue that it is legally appropriate for people to be unhoused. It is part of the job. That said, I think I would have to resign in protest. #vtpoli
DCF has been doing no such thing as screening. #vtpoli
