Posting a video of mountain people cutting up and having a good time isn’t the own you think it is. No Republican can get elected president without strong support from folks like this.
The story of the midterms has only been half absorbed. The end of Roe did boost Dem turnout, but what hurt the GOP the most was the drop in rural turnout. Across the country, rural turnout was 20-30 points lower than the GOP expected.
Expectations were built on the assumption that the rural base would turn out strongly and split 80/20-95/5 like they did for Trump. They thought this would happen because it happened for Youngkin in Virginia.
The narrative from national pundits (who don’t know Virginia politics) was that Youngkin’s win was powered by suburban voters, ignoring the fact that rural voters turned out like it was a presidential election and voted ~90/10 for Youngkin.
How did Youngkin pull that off? Well, rural voters wanted revenge on National Democrats for what they did to Trump and on Virginia Democrats for what they did to Virginia, and for what they were proposing (removal of confederate monuments, legal full-term abortion, gun bans,… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
Remember, when Northam tried to ban assault rifles, 70,000 armed citizens descended on Richmond. I remember the confederate flag patches worn by people at Youngkin rallies. Consultants on twitter tried to say they were plants. Nope. It was a real issue, still is.
McAuliffe also proposed vaccine passports and mandates. Youngkin wasn’t strong on the issue in general, but he was against forcing people to choose between their job and the jab. Youngkin was the only hammer people had to whack the Dems with. It was a unique election.
Republicans in the midterms thought that was just going to happen again and they didn’t actually have to offer the rural base anything. Took them for granted. Didn’t speak to the issues they cared about. Made zero effort to stop the base renamings or any other cultural… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
Trump‘s defense of Robert E. Lee and other southern heroes is smart politics. In contrast, DeSantis bent the knee to the woke mob on this issue. It will haunt him in this primary, particularly on Super Tuesday in the States of AL, CA, AR, NC, TN, TX, VA, and OK.

The climate is changing. It has always been changing. Near the village one of my ancestors came from in Germany there is a mountain with terraces cut into the side by the Romans. They grew grapes there. They could do that because the climate was much warmer then. It’s not warm… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
We can’t control the climate, but we can control whether or not we turn our world into a garbage dump, we can stop polluting the lakes and rivers, we can stop putting chemicals in our food supply, we can stop building eyesores, we can stop population growth, we can stop progress.
There is too much knowledge and too little wisdom. Too much owned space and too little wilderness. Our current level of population is a total aberration and can only be supported through aberrant means.

Bukele also announces that at this moment, the Attorney General of the Republic, Rodolfo Delgado, is searching all the properties and assets of Former President Alfredo Cristiani.
Christiani was named in the Pandora Papers for involvement in corruption. He created at least 16 offshore companies in the year following his departure from power.

For anyone who is interested in TRT, I have an affiliation deal with Fountain TRT which gets you a testosterone test and 1-1 consultation with a men’s health provider for $35.

One potent advantage Trump has going into the election is the power of nostalgia and image. Normal people aren’t buying the “threat to democracy” line from the Dems. They see him as a fun lovable guy. No one comes close on the “which candidate would you rather hang out with?”… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
When I say normal people, I’m not even talking country/MAGA. I’m talking high school kids, urban/suburban 20somethings, people not at all plugged into Republican politics.
I’ve only seen three political candidates where the composition of their crowds has been notably different than normal Republican/Democrat politicians. Donald Trump in 2016 primary, RFK Jr rally against mandates, and Ron Paul in 2008.

In other word, burn the golden calves
yeah I would rather see the country that allows this kind of thing to happen completely collapse than accept this and carry on with 2% annual gdp growth
