Guo Wengui remains in jail facing facing fraud charges. But an org he launched with Bannon, the New Federal State of China, today celebrates its 3rd anniversary at a mansion in Mahwah, NJ. Scheduled speakers include Reps Paul Gosar, Andy Ogles and of course, George Santos.
Santos has previously tried to link himself to Guo, claiming that his own fraud indictment is somehow the result of his call to "Free Miles Guo" days earlier, part of the same vast CCP conspiracy Guo and Bannon say caused other fraud charges against them. motherjones.com/politics/2023/…
Gosar and Ogles, a new far right Rep. from Tenn., along with former Rep. Pete Hoekstra, also a listed speaker, are as far as I know, newly aligning with Guo, an alleged Chinese agent charged with running a vast scam in which he used anti-CCP rhetoric to rip off his own backers.
Gosar is an '20 election truther. Ogles, like Santos, got caught lying about his resume. newschannel5.com/news/newschann… So it makes some sense that they are at the anniversary event of a mostly fake org started on 6/4 because Guo falsely claims a link to the Tiananmen Square protests.
The NFSC's anniversary this year is in a Mahwah, NJ mansion that they call their "base." That' a step down from their 2021 bash on the top floor of One World Trade Center. In fact feds say Guo bought the house with stolen funds and said they were seizing it.
So these congressmen, along with various House candidates, are at a NJ mansion allegedly bought with stolen money to endorse the conspiracy theories of a reputed Chinese agent currently jailed for allegedly stealing more than $1 billion from his own backers.
When Michael Flynn and Rudy Giuliani spoke at the NFSC's 2021 anniversary event, they were paid $50K apiece, I reported. motherjones.com/politics/2022/…. Are this year's "VVIPs" being paid?
Here's a livestream of the ongoing NFSC event. It may not be surprising, but it's still notable and bad that House members and a former ambassador are appearing at an event help by an org that DOJ/SEC have convincingly alleged is part of a massive con. gettr.com/streaming/p2is…
Gosar accused China of using TikTok to promote "hedonism and mindless dancing."
Reps. Gosar and Ogles avoided mentioning Guo by name - unlike Santos, a "Free Miles Guo" man. Ogles stuck to nutty but relatively safe platitudes about "the CCP virus" etc. Though he did tell the NFSCers, "as long as you fight for liberty...your cause is my cause."
For those clamoring for more on "Let my People Guo" mentioned on the program I tweeted, by DVS 7.0 ("Rapper/Spoken Word Poet/Christian Conservative Latino Activist") and ForgiatoBlow (a pioneer of 'MAGA rap'") here is it, courtesy of @seth_hettena.
Elliot Broidy is testifying today in the Pras Michel trial about their efforts to lobby Trump on behalf of Malaysia and arguably, China. Background here. motherjones.com/politics/2020/…
Pras may have dozed during Broidy’s testimony about trying to arrange for the Malysian PM to golf with Trump. The “Ghetto Superstar” artist’s eyes were closed for a few mins.
Most of what Broidy is testifying about has already been reported but it is still a fascinating window into the epic corruption that people with ties to Trump attempted in 2017.
Guo Wengui had a bail hearing today in his federal case, but no question his followers are eager to attach his cause to Trump's political persecution claims.
Guo followers are actually posting to argue he predicted that China would orchestrate that prosecution of Trump, Bannon and himself. So they are trying to get in on the Trump persecution mania.
Leonardo DiCaprio is currently testifying on the Pras Michel foreign lobbying trial in DC.
Leo is talking about his relationship with Jho Low, the Malaysian financier and now alleged money launder who finaced Wolf of Wall Street and later allegedly enlisted Praz and others in illegal campaign finance and lobbying efforts.
Pras’ lawyer asked DiCaprio if he remembered having Pras come to his house for Thanksgiving one year. Leo said he may have but can’t recall. “I couldn’t say exactly. Memory does not serve.”
Lawyers for alleged fraudster Guo Wengui, stuck in jail because he's a flight risk, are trying to get him bail - their job. But here they repeat the dubious bio Guo pushes. He claims to have arrested in 1989 for supporting the Tiananmen Square protests. documentcloud.org/documents/2373…
But Guo's effort to link himself to Tiananmen is likely a lie. As @Sasha_Gong, who researched Guo, has found, and as @eosnos wrote, Guo went to jail BEFORE the CCP cracked down on protestors. And a document from the time lists Guo's crime as petty fraud. newyorker.com/magazine/2022/…
Guo also did nothing discernible to oppose the CCP until 2017. That was after corrupt Chinese officials helped him get rich, after he'd fled China to escape fraud charges, and while he was cultivating ties to the Trumpworld figures like Bannon. motherjones.com/politics/2022/…
In the most exciting court case in Manhattan, federal prosecutors say they have found new evidence Guo Wengui's chief of staff and codefendant Yvette Wang, lied to them about her recent work for Guo's fraudulent companies and assets. They argue this means Wang shouldn't get bail.
Prosecutors say Wang is a flight risk if granted bail, in part because she's apparently been working on getting citizenship in the tiny Pacific state of Vanuatu, where Guo also had a passport. Vanuatu has supposedly made buying passports, which allow easy access to the EU, easy.
Feds also say that Wang failed to disclose $138,000 in cash she had in a safe in her apartment, in a "pouch designed for quick removal." Looks cool, but I'd be real stressed out having that all that cash in my house, let alone traveling with it.
People at this modest pro-Guo Wengui protest today
were probably paid. Guo's org tends to pay even his own New Federal State of China fans per diems to show up at protests he orders. The "Rule of Law" nonprofits, launched by Guo and Bannon in 2018, often make the payments.
In 2020, Guo called for protests around the world aimed at Chinese dissidents he was mad at. He called it the "Kill Cheaters" campaign. I got some bank statements and audio showing the Rule of Law orgs funded some of the harassment. motherjones.com/politics/2022/…
In recent months, Guo supporters have been holding "protests" harassing various lawyers and officials involved in his bankruptcy who are trying to locate assets he hid. Hundreds of people are involved in these efforts, and some traveled to take part. motherjones.com/politics/2023/…
