Everything is “just alright” with Bakugou Katsuki.

He works as a researcher in a chemical company. He gets paid for it handsomely and he never has to work late. But his work remains to be challenging enough to keep him interested for a long while.
hello, this is a rare moment in my posts where I will have to ask you to please read the tags :D Take these for your protection.

After work, he goes home to his fancy one-bedroom apartment. He cooks dinner for himself, watches some shows by himself and then he occasionally calls his mother when it’s been a month since their last chat.

He has his hobbies on the side, where he makes cooking videos.
He doesn’t show his face, it’s just his hands. Living alone in this apartment makes it so conducive for shooting videos, because it’s all quiet.

Then right when the sun sets, he gets his shoes and runs.
This is pretty much his routine and everything in his life is just alright.

And maybe that’s why his universe decides to make his life MORE than just ‘alright’.
Katsuki is in the middle of his walk home, when the cry of what seemed like a thousand birds distracts him while crossing the intersection. He raises his head to the direction of the sound.
It came from above him and he looks up just in time to catch a glimpse of a ball of electric-green lightning.

Of course, that distracts him from the passenger bus careening towards him.
But in a split second, Katsuki is roughly pushed and he stumbles ungracefully on the sidewalk. He would have broken a leg or a hip, or worse, he could have died, but the universe plans for someone to come along, with green lightning, flashing to save him.
Whoever his saviour is, he got the brunt of the injury instead.

Katsuki immediately jumps into action when he realises that the man who saved him lays unconscious, and unmoving next to him and urgently needs medical attention.

- - -✨💚🧡✨- - -
Katsuki calls an ambulance and goes with him to the hospital. He's unconscious, this green-haired man with freckles all over his cheeks.

The doctors tell Katsuki that the stranger needs to stay in the hospital.
They ask him a bunch of questions, hoping that it will help, but Katsuki just doesn’t know what to answer.

Does Katsuki know him? No, but Katsuki lies and says that he's a friend. Because after getting saved by this guy, you bet Katsuki WILL be his friend.
He has no idea who this guy is, but Katsuki will figure it out.

Katsuki fishes out a worn-out, orange wallet with a black X on it, from the pocket of the stranger. He flips it open and finds his ID.
There are a few photos that were slipped in the middle pocket of the wallet, but Katsuki doesn't snoop around further than that. Photos seems too personal.

Katsuki just needs to know who he is. He needs to know at least this stranger's name.
The ID in it says that his name is Midoriya Deku.

Agency: Takami-Endeavor Bureau
Position: Hero
Rank: Senior
Access Level: S
Quirk: OFA

Whatever that means.
Maybe it's part of his live role-playing thing? Deku is obviously in cosplay attire, has to be. This dark green suit, with dark orange lines along the shoulder is too much for normal day.

He has a yellow cape, which it's already fringed on the side.
It has a few patches here and there as if it's been repaired several times. This cape must be important to this man.

It gets weird when Katsuki looks up the written address at the back of the ID.
Katsuki prides himself with his geographical knowledge, but he has no idea where the hell "Musutafu" is.

A quick search online only confuses him more for this place doesn't exist. Deku also doesn't seem to have any social media, either.
Maybe he's one of those people who choose to resist any type of online presence.

But despite of that, Katsuki decides to stay anyway. He will sit here with the unconscious stranger until he wakes up. His mother taught him well and he knows when to give gratitude when it’s due.
He wants to be here when Deku wakes up and properly thank him for saving his life.

- - -✨💚🧡✨- - -
Days pass, but Deku doesn't wake. The nurses have cleaned him up on the first day. They had to because they had to treat the wounds and bandage them. But after the following days, Katsuki volunteers to do it himself.
He diligently checks the wounds under the bandages, careful that none of the wounds will get infected.

He gently wipes Deku's arms, necks, face, chest with a warm towel. His skin is soft, but undearneath it, Katsuki can feel all the firm, pure muscle.
and if this new injury brings Deku new scars, they're nothing compared to the old scars that decorate Deku's body. His hands and arms alone are filled with jagged scars.

Katsuki traces one with his finger, wondering how the hell did Deku get this.
Dropping by the hospital has become a habit in his daily schedule. It's on the way home from his work, so it's not like it's a lot of effort for Katsuki. The nurses at the hospital begin to recognize him because he comes here everyday.
Because he spends more time here now, he put his cooking videos channel on hiatus, saying that he has to take care of a friend in a hospital. His viewers all wish him well. He still runs in the evenings.
He jogs that distance from the hospital to his house, after his daily visits to Deku.

On some days, Katsuki brings him sunflowers. He’s always hoping he'll gain consciousness soon so he can thank the idiot for selflessly (and carelessly) saving his life.
One day, he's so tired from work that he goes straight to the hospital. He sits on the chair next to Deku's bed, with his head propped up on his elbows. Today has been very exhausting and ...

... maybe he'll just close his eyes for a few seconds.

- - -✨💚🧡✨- - -
He wakes up to the soothing feeling of someone softly stroking his hair. Oh, that's very nice.

"Hey, Kacchan." A soft voice whispers near him.

Katsuki jolts up immediately. Oh, Deku is awake! He's starting back at Katsuki with the softest smile. Oh wow. He's cute. Very cute.
Whoever Deku gives that smile to everyday is pretty lucky!

Deku stops petting his hair and he looks around, "Where am I?"
"You're in Osaka. You jumped in front of bus to save me. The docs said they have no idea why you've been unconscious for days,"

Katsuki slowly recounts what the doctors told him. They found it interesting that Deku's injuries were also inconsistent with the bus accident.
It's as if these injuries were received from something else. Maybe he was in a fight before the bus incident?

"How are you feeling?" Katsuki looks for any sign of discomfort on Deku.

"Ahh,... A bit sore, but okay." Deku grunts as he tries to sit up properly.
Then he grows quiet and he stills. His stare at Katsuki is getting unnerving. It's like he's contemplating what to say and building up the nerve to say it.

Deku clears his throat instead. "Thanks for taking me here." then he reluctantly follows with, "What's your name?"
"Bakugou Katsuki." Katsuki gets up to give him a slight bow. "Thank you for saving my life."

"I'll always save you. I'm --"

"Deku, right? Yeah, I saw your ID."

"Yeah," Deku replies with a wry smile on his face. "I'm Deku."

- - -✨💚🧡✨- - -
Next day, a plastic container of cinnamon rolls is tucked snugly in Katsuki's backpack. He woke up extra early this morning because he wanted to bake the cinnamon rolls. He even reactivated his cooking video channel account, and made a quick life update to his followers.
His friend was finally awake and he was okay. Katsuki recorded his hands making the cinnamon rolls and uploaded it without any edits.

He’s irrationally happy. He doesn’t even know this guy that well, but for some reason, Katsuki wants to make him happy.
Like making Deku happy scratches this itch inside Katsuki that has been longing to care for someone. Also, these delicious cinnamon rolls will knock Deku's socks off.

But when Katsuki goes to the hospital reception desk, the nurses tell him that Deku is gone.

"HAA?
What do you mean he's gone?!"

Apparently, after Katsuki left yesterday for home, Deku must have snuck out of the hospital in the middle of the night. His very few belongings (a worn-out yellow backpack and a yellow cape) were gone too.
The nurses warned Katsuki though, that if he manages to find Deku, he needs to keep him close. He may still have a concussion and somebody needs to look out for him.

Ugh. Stupid… annoying…idiot.

A bit disappointed and bummed out, Katsuki starts walking to work.
He gives the cinnamon rolls to his co-workers instead. They heard about the news. There was footage of it that was captured from a security camera. It was hanging from a corner of the convenience store.
They saw a small bit when Katsuki was saved and pushed out of harm's way by the stranger in green costume.

He came so fast out of nowhere, like lightning. Some people thought it was weird that he moved too fast, and they blamed it on the old security camera.
- - -✨💚🧡✨- - -

At the end of his work day, Katsuki eventually goes home. He usually takes the bus, but he’s too annoyed to sit still. His good mood from this morning is gone.
He’s just left with this unsatisfied and uneasy feeling that a Deku (with a concussion!) is out there wandering towards god knows where!

So Katsuki decides to walk this annoying feeling off. Walking helps him think better.
As he passes under a bridge, his thoughts drift off to Deku once again, and to that warm feeling that made a home in his stomach when Deku was stroking his hair and staring at him like he's a lover.

There is something strange about him, but it's strangely comforting.
He's still lost in his thoughts when two drunk assholes shoulder-checked Katsuki. One of them roughly shoves him and Katsuki manages to resist it.
The tunnel under the bridge has very little light and there is no one else who seems to be there, except for these two drunk assholes.

"Ah, ye have such a pretty face. Now give us your stuff!" The other guy holds out a pocket knife. The way he holds it is pitiful.
Katsuki, who knows a few self-defence moves of his own, stands his ground and stares back at them defiantly. He quickly runs the scenario through his head and he may actually have a chance.

"Nothing pretty about me when my fist hits your fucking ugly face."
Both drunk assholes attack him, and Katsuki manages to land a few good hits but two huge men against him just puts him at a great disadvantage.

Suddenly, that familiar green lightning flashes on the corner of his eye.
Soon Deku is there again, grabbing two of the drunk guys off of Katsuki, slamming them on the ground. The sickening sound of bones cracking echoes down the tunnel as Deku punches them.

Then Deku gets up to stand still.
Both drunkards are still alive and can very much still run as soon as their legs stop trembling.

Izuku’s voice is low when he seethes at them, it raises the fine hair at the back of Katsuki’s neck. "Don't ever lay a hand on him again."
Holy shit, for some embarrassing reason, Deku’s voice sounds so good to Katsuki right now.

The two assholes struggle to get up, hastily offering their ‘sincerest’ apologies to Deku and to Katsuki.

It’s surprising that they actually survived.
With the fury that burns in Deku’s green eyes, he had thought that they would meet their end here. But that seemed wrong, Deku doesn’t look like the type to kill, even though his whole body can do so effortlessly.
With one last growl from Deku, Katsuki’s attackers scampered away from there.

- - -✨💚🧡✨- - -

"What the fuck is wrong with you?" Katsuki takes his time to scold Deku.
For leaving the hospital while he still has a concussion, for carelessly saving Katsuki again (“I totally got it under control, Deku.”)

"Sorry." Deku says again, rubbing the back of his neck. His head hangs low in apology.
It’s so different from the Deku, the fiercely protective one that he had just witnessed.

Eventually, Katsuki notices the yellow backpack on the ground, and a yellow blanket / cape underneath it.
Judging by Deku's dishevelled hair, and the grime on his skin, it looks like he’s been sleeping in the streets.

"You idiot! You're sleeping here?!” Katsuki nearly shouts at him.

Deku winces at that, “The place I live is really, really far away! I can't exactly go there now.”
“And where do you live?”

“Can't tell you. Classified.”

Katsuki sighs. This selfless, reckless, handsome idiot. He has a feeling he’s gonna be the death of Katsuki someday.

“FINE. Listen. Thank you for saving me again. You didn’t have to save me, but you did. So thanks.
I need to repay you for that…”

“Ahh, you don’t have to–”

“But I do. And I will NOT take no for an answer, DEKU!!”

Katsuki has a one-bedroom apartment with a pretty decent couch. His apartment is big enough for two people.
The long hours that Katsuki spends in it can use some conversations to fill it with.

And best of all, his couch at least is much better accommodation than sleeping under the bridge.

Fuck it.

“Come live with me, temporarily.”
Katsuki blurts out quickly before Deku can say ‘no’ again. “Just don’t pull anything weird, because I swear to God if you do, I'll chop off your limbs. So don't even think about it, got it?!”
Deku has rescued him twice already, doing bad things to him are most likely not in his agenda.

"R-really? I don't want to bother or intru—"

"Stop delaying. We know how this will end!" Katsuki turns around and starts to walk away.
He’s really pleased when Deku grabs his stuff and follows after Katsuki.

When some people receive guests in their home, they sometimes apologize for the state that it’s in. ‘Oh, sorry, you’ll have to excuse the mess’ or ‘I didn’t have time to clean, sorry about this’.

But not Katsuki.

His apartment is always ready, like him.
He keeps his apartment tidy regularly, even though he has a busy schedule. It is manageable because every object has a home in his apartment.

Shoes? Shoe shelf.
Keys? Key hooks by the wall.
Jackets? Coat rack.
He puts things away immediately, and he doesn’t leave things lying around.

It’s something that annoys him to no end whenever his friends come over to visit.
Inasa would dump his jacket on the wooden floor by the genkan, Camie would drop her tote bag on the tatami mat (causing Katsuki to accidentally trip on it because it was in the way, and all her makeup would spill out).
So when he turns his keys in the doorknob, he is ready to tell Deku to remove his muddy boots, set it on the corner and instruct him where to drop his dirty bag…
But without a word, as if his mind is being read, Deku removes his muddy boots and sets them in the corner of the genkan and puts his dusty bag right next to it, exactly where Katsuki––

“Thank you for having me, Katsuki-san.” Deku politely bows to him.

“It’s nothing.”
Katsuki removes his shoes and motions for Deku to follow him. “So, yeah, this is my apartment. You’re welcome to sit on the furniture once you’re clean.”

He gives him a brief tour. It’s very brief because it’s a one bedroom apartment.
He sends Deku off to the shower, and grabs him a fluffy orange towel. Deku thanks him again.

When the shower turns on, Katsuki suddenly panics a little. His hands brace themselves on his wooden counter and he takes a few deep breaths to ground himself.
Everything is clean and everything is in place, there’s nothing to distract himself with. Crap, Katsuki desperately wants to clean something. Why does he feel… nervous? No, it’s not nervousness. He’s not afraid, he just feels… restless but in a positive way.

Oh.

Excitement.
That’s what he’s feeling.

He stares at the closed door of his bathroom. The sound of the shower drones on behind it. Why does he feel excited now that Deku is here? He doesn’t get this excited when his friends are over. What a strange, unexplainable feeling.

Right.
Standing around will not help. He needs to prepare and set up a space for Deku in his apartment. He doesn’t know how long Deku will stay, maybe just enough until he finds his way back to wherever city he came from.

“Hmph. Classified, my ass.”
Katsuki mutters to himself as he gathers up clean sheets, blankets and pillows in his arms.

Katsuki sets up the living room for Deku. Thankfully his couch is long enough to be comfortable for sleeping, Katsuki himself falls asleep on it sometimes.
He will just remember to lock his bedroom door every night before he goes to sleep though. Deku would likely not harm him because if he had wanted to, he already had plenty of opportunities to do it. But, you never know.

- - -✨💚🧡✨- - -
By the time Katsuki hears the shower shutting off and the bathroom door opening, Deku’s dirty green clothes have long been chucked in the washing machine. It gentlly rumbles in the background.
A set of clean sheets and a blanket are on the couch and Katsuki is in the middle of stirring a pot of mapo tofu for their dinner.

“Oi, Deku. I hope you like mapo tofu bec–” Katsuki turns his head to see Deku stepping out of the bathroom.
Steam billows out from behind him. His orange towel is wrapped around his waist. Water drips from his green hair and trickles down his perfectly sculpted chest and abs.

“Uhm.. sorry, Katsuki-san. Can I borrow some spare clothes?”
Oh my god.

So this is what Deku looks like, without the soot and grime on his face.

Holy freakin’ mapo tofu, he's beautiful. He’s different from when Katsuki saw him back in the hospital, where he lay injured and unconscious.
Now he stands here in Katsuki’s kitchen, clean and his skin a little flushed from the heat of the shower and–

“Katsuki-san?”

With his attention completely lost on Deku, Katsuki’s hand accidentally touches the pot of boiling mapo tofu.
“AHH!! MOTHERFUCKER!!” Katsuki recoils his hand automatically.

“Kacchan!”

Fuck, what a time to be distracted! This is embarrassing.

But Deku is immediately standing right next to him, cradling his slightly burned hand and inspecting it ever so gently.
Katsuki is stunned, he can’t even pull his hand away (he doesn’t want to…) Deku’s hand is surprisingly soft despite how rough it looks with all of its scars.

When Katsuki’s brain finishes rebooting, Deku is running his burned hand under cold water.
He’s muttering about, “...having no explosion quirk.” or something. Katsuki's not sure if he hears it right.

“I’m okay, Deku.” Katsuki grunts and turns away from Deku quickly. It's not only his hand that feels the heat right now.
After he dries his hand, he goes to his bedroom to rummage through his drawers for clothes, leaving Deku standing awkwardly in the kitchen.

God, just remembering how Deku is pure muscle, and the gentle way he held Katsuki’s hand makes his cheeks heat up.
His skin tingles (probably partially because of the burn, hah!) and a burst of butterflies flutter around in his chest.

It’s good thing that no one else can see him blushing, except for his folded underwear and socks.

God.

What the fuck is happening to him?!
He grabs his old UA University clothes. He hasn’t worn these in a long while but they’re clean. They’re bigger so they will do for Deku.

Maybe he should buy Deku some clothes of his own…?

NO. Deku is not a pet for Katsuki to buy toys and clothes for!
OK, maybe only some clothes will be okay, enough to last him a few days.

He steadies himself with a deep breath and goes out of his room.

Deku thanks him endlessly once again and he goes back to the bathroom to change. Katsuki pretends that nothing awkward just happened.
- - -✨💚🧡✨- - -

It’s been a long time since Katsuki’s nice plates and chopsticks have been set on this dining table.

When his friends Inasa and Camie come over, they bring takeaway and they eat by the couch or on the floor.
And when Katsuki is alone, he just takes his food on the couch and watches a series.

“Waaa, this is so good.” Deku mutters to himself as he chomps down on the spoonful of spicy mapo tofu and abruptly chokes.

“Hey, slow down you dumbass!”
Deku pounds his fist on his chest a few times and coughs a bit. “I can’t help it. This mapo tofu is so good, Kacch— Katsuki-san.”

Deku likes his food.

The idea alone makes Katsuki preen with pride. Damn right. His mapo tofu is good.
The awkwardness from earlier has long dissipated by the time Deku asks him about himself. Deku asks about his family.

And Katsuki doesn’t find it weird at all to talk about Mitsuki and Masaru, the other two people on this planet that he loves the most.
They’re art curators and they’re really damn good at their jobs. Their clients are often the rich celebrities and business people, that’s why their family can afford a bit of luxury.

Their keen eye for beauty and craftsmanship influenced Katsuki in his choices as well.
His apartment, although inhabited by only him, is lovingly decorated. Prints of his favorite artworks hang on his warm orange walls.

But Katsuki chooses to go into a different direction. He wants to explode things.
He marvels at the beauty of how things burn, in a controlled way of course. And he’s pretty smart and that’s what the chemical company that he works for also thought.

They finish dinner and Deku helps him with the dishes.
Katsuki is rinsing the plates and he hands them to Deku’s waiting hands for drying.

Odd.

This domesticity is so strangely comfortable. He feels comfortable with Deku. Deku takes the plates and with his scarred hands, he dries them with a dish towel.
“What happened to your hands?” Katsuki asks before realizing that maybe it’s not a good question to ask. Even without looking at Deku, he knows he stiffens up. “You don’t have to answer if you don’t wanna.”
“No, it’s fine. It’s uh..” Deku’s pauses mid wipe on the plate. “I was given something that I didn’t know how to properly use in the beginning. It broke some of my fingers, and my arms and also a lot of my limbs, by the way.
But all of that healed just fine. The scars just stayed as a reminder that I can always improve myself.”

“What’s your job… and if you say ‘a hero’, I swear to god, Deku…” Katsuki almost rolls his eyes and the butterflies in his chest awaken once again as soon as Deku laughs.
Oh my god. Katsuki loves that laughter. He hasn’t heard Deku laugh yet, nor seen him with his genuine smile.

Katsuki is no art curator like his mom or dad, but he knows it in his guts when he sees something beautiful that he wants to preserve forever.
“Okay, I’m a…” Deku pauses to look up, as if his answer hangs on Katuski’s ceiling. “I help people. I am good at combat, as you saw under the bridge. Annnddd I work on missions that are classified. That’s why I cannot tell you more.”
“Heh. I’m pretty good at finding out things, I’ll know sooner or later.” Katsuki will park this for now, but he knows that sooner or later, he’ll find out the truth.

- - -✨💚🧡✨- - -
When dishes are washed and put away in their “home”, Katsuki and Deku sit on the couch.

It’s around this time when Katsuki catches up with his series. It’s about a hero named Horikoshi, who saves people with a smile.

It’s one of Katsuki’s favorite shows.
As Katsuki scrolls through the apps on his smart TV, he can’t help but notice how Deku has suddenly become quiet.

He sits there on the other edge of the couch, hugging his knees close to his chest.

It hurts Katsuki to see him like this. He looks so small and … lonely.
It’s annoying because loneliness doesn’t look good on Deku.

“Oi Deku, what’s wrong?”

Deku sniffs a little, "It’s nothing. I just... thank you for taking care of me."

“I already told you, it’s nothing.”
“Katsuki-san, this is gonna sound weird, and it's totally okay if you don't want to. But…” Deku takes a deep breath, “...can I hug you?
“That is weird.” Katsuki replies and Deku almost winces. He’s about to apologize, but Katsuki interrupts him quickly, “But you earned being weird around me for saving my life twice. Just don't do anything funny.”

“O..kay?”
And with that, Katsuki stands up in front of Deku, and he opens his arms out. “Okay, come here.”

And Deku practically leaps from the couch and latches himself immediately to Katsuki. Deku buries his face into his hair, wrapping his arms around him tightly.
Katsuki feels him tremble, his chest heaving soft, quiet sobs.

"Thank you, I really mi-- I really missed hugging somebody."
They stay like that for a few seconds and Katsuki brings his arms around him too. He instantly feels Deku's muscles relax, as if his whole body is powering down.

When Deku pulls away, his eyes are full of tears and he hastily wipes them away.
"Thank you. Ka- Katsuki. Sorry bout this. I just miss where I'm from. But I'll find a way to get back.”

Katsuki has no idea why he says this next, because Deku is technically still a stranger. “It’s nothing to be sorry about.
And if at any time you miss hugging somebody, you are welcome to hug me.” then he adds, “but not when I’m chopping stuff, otherwise I’ll cut you!”

Then he playfully pokes Deku on his side, eliciting a soft chuckle. “Okay, okay. Thank you, Katsuki-san.”
They sit down on the couch and Katsuki introduces Deku to his hero, Horikoshi.

That’s enough crying for today. He needs to see other expressions that Deku can make. He wants to see him happy.

He wonders if Deku will like superhero shows.

Where pro-hero Deku stumbles into a quirkless world and meets its Bakugou Katsuki 💚🧡

There was this old TV show from my childhood about a family of fairies.

So now I'm thinking of #dkbk #fairyAU where Human Deku is married to Fairy Kacchan.

Fairy Kacchan belongs to a royal, powerful family of fairies. While Deku is just a regular human guy.
They live in a suburban neighborhood, where they have a lot of kind, but a bit nosey neighbors (Class A).

Kacchan and Deku have a daughter, Eri. Half human, half fairy. They try to fit in the neighborhood as a regular family but shenanigans always ensue.
Especially when Katsuki's fairy parents come over to suddenly visit, at very incovenient times.

Deku and Kacchan making out in the kitchen, because Eri is still at school..

*poof!* Mitsuki Magenta, queen of fairies suddenly poofs in with gold and purple glitters. "MY SON!"

No one told Pro-hero Katsuki that he will fall in love in a clinic at 6AM, with a guy who is probably x10 out of his league.

But it all started when Katsuki had to do community service because of some "damage" his explosions caused in the city.
He is given a choice on what community service he wants to do: Cleaning up Dagobah beach, boring. Maybe if All Might promises him OFA then Katsuki will clean it up. But not today.
Planting trees in the nearby forest is also an option, apparently many heroes end up destroying the trees because of their quirks.

Eh, but it's too hot today and Katsuki will end up accidentally exploding the trees because of them pesky mosquitos.
