Adding Chaos (Midjourney)

Here's a quick tutorial about how adding the chaos parameter affects the grid of images.

Default chaos is zero.
Max is 100.

Base prompt:
close-up shot, mushroom, fractal --ar 16:9

Thread.

#midjourneyv51 #midjourney5 Image
First image.
This is what MJ says about --chaos or --c parameter.

Second image.
Close-up shot, mushroom, fractal --ar 16:9
No chaos. ImageImage
Here I added --c from 25 - 100

close-up shot, mushroom, fractal --ar 16:9 --c 25

close-up shot, mushroom, fractal --ar 16:9 --c 50

close-up shot, mushroom, fractal --ar 16:9 --c 75

close-up shot, mushroom, fractal --ar 16:9 --c 100 ImageImageImageImage
Do you notice any differences?

I also tested chaos with --style raw parameter.
First, here's the prompt without chaos.

close-up shot, mushroom, fractal --ar 16:9 --style raw Image
Then, adding --chaos

close-up shot, mushroom, fractal --ar 16:9 --style raw --c 25
--c 50
--c 75
--c 100 ImageImageImageImage
The higher the chaos value, the more "unexpected" the results.

I also wanted to test a completely different prompt.

This one:
singularity, macro photography, white and orange --ar 16:9

First, no chaos added.
And --chaos 20 (I went in increments of 20 here) ImageImage
I purposefully wanted to use more abstract subject and add colors.

Here are the results with --c 40, 60, 80 and 100

And we have an orange 😂 and a tea kettle at --c 100.

Much more noticeable changes with this prompt. ImageImageImageImage
Here are some of my favorites upscaled.

When would I use chaos?

Exploration - if I am not sure where I'm going or want to get a good variety of results adding chaos is great.

You can always fine-tune it from there if needed. ImageImageImageImage
When would I not use chaos?

Precision work.

If I'm working on something that requires a very specific outcome, I won't use chaos because I want reliable, repeatable results.

I also made this into a video tutorial and put it on YouTube: ImageImageImageImage

Prompt Share

Do I have something for you... 😍

As usual - insanely simple base prompt.

The base:
"candid photo"

Then you can start adding things to it...

For example:
candid photo of a woman [add aspect ratio of your choice]

- you'll get both young and old twitter.com/i/web/status/1… ImageImageImageImage
candid photo of a young woman
or
candid photo of a 20-year-old woman ImageImageImageImage
candid photo of a woman, warm summer evening
or
candid photo of a woman, cafe summer evening
or
candid photo of a girl
or
candid photo of a 10-year-old girl ImageImageImageImage

How to build a prompt

Midjourney v5.1

- but the same principle can be applied to other versions and AI image generators (although prompt elements/tokens may need to be adjusted)

Start with the minimal elements possible and build it one "block" at a time.

Thread. twitter.com/i/web/status/1… Image
The starting point:

Subject + style

The subject: "a portrait"

I have an idea that I want to combine two styles:
1. minimalism
2. pop art

I'm first running each separately.

The prompt:
a portrait, minimalism --ar 16:9
and
a portrait, pop art --ar 16:9 ImageImage
I simply observe what I see.
- minimalism: too minimalistic, photo
- pop art: too busy

Putting the two styles together:

a portrait, pop art, minimalism --ar 16:9

I run each prompt several times.

If I like something - I upscale it. ImageImageImageImage

Monetizing AI - YouTube

I'm getting questions about how to monetize and make money with AI - whether with images you generate or otherwise, so here's the first installation of the series "Monetizing AI."

Thread. twitter.com/i/web/status/1… Image
How do you make money with AI on YouTube?

- AdSense (YouTube partner program)
- memberships
- super chats (live streams)
- merch
- brand deals

👉There are many ways to make money on YT
If you are thinking about giving YouTube a go, ask yourself this:

Do you love/like making videos?

If you don't, it's going to become challenging to keep going.

If the answer is yes, keep going.

Working a Prompt - Midjourney

The promised process of how to generate images like this 👇👇👇

Note!
This is not the only way or the right way - just simply one way I work and play with a prompt to achieve an aesthetic and to observe results. Image
1. Prompt elements

Constants: Extreme close-up, photo, red hair, beautiful girl (a woman would work too)

I don't add "freckles" - MJ will add freckles when you prompt red hair.

If you add "freckles" you can get something like this: Super freckles. Image
I add "photo" to make sure the created images are photos. i.e. I'm directing MJ to generate a photograph.

If I don't use "photo" I can sometimes get a not-so-realistic photo image (top right).

prompt:
extreme close-up of a beautiful redheaded girl Image

Prompt Cycling

This is one method I use to study prompts. (I totally made up the name for this technique)

The other two methods: Prompt Buildup and Prompt Stripping. (also made these names up, but they fit so well)

Thread + Prompts.

#midjourney #midjourneyv51 enigma, vector art --ar 16:9
The technique:
Keep one element constant while systematically changing another element to observe the effects on the output.

For this example of prompt cycling, I used:
Enigma - as the constant

Here's my starting point👉 Enigma

It's like a baseline. enigma
Then I start playing with the variable.

(and running out of my fast hours...😭)

So each prompt will be

Enigma, [variable] --ar 16:9

You can use any --ar = the aspect ratio for your image or leave it out for a square image.

16:9 (wide screen)
