After 9 days Rocky is back at his “family” home. This is the hardest part of what I do. The obvious questions are…

1. Why do you put him back on the streets?

Why do you put him back on the streets?

There is always someone more serious. 3 minutes after Rocky left this is Chicken who checked in and took his spot. A young mother who had her puppies taken from her. She was distressed and dumped. Her blood results were so bad she was… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

Why don’t you get him a home?

I’m always trying. I re-homed 15 dogs in the last 5-6 weeks. The reality with Rocky is there are 1000s of dogs on the island.

Costs to re-home abroad approx $2000. The harder part though is the paperwork / vetting and time to prepare him is 4… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

Why can’t he stay with you?

I could collect up 100 dogs like Rocky tomorrow. I don’t think that’s a viable solution. Building lots of space doesn’t fix anything it just moves street dogs into my care. There are 1000s of dogs on the island.

His general health is bouncing back quick. I have to find him daily and get him medicines for the next 45 days without missing a day and he’ll be fine. It’s an extra 15 minutes onto my day but totally worth it.
