the thing with the nerds who keep saying tech stuff will replace creative is that these are the least imaginative motherfuckers on the planet. i love tech stuff but theres a reason game and movie studios dont have the programmers coming up with the cool ip.
if youre into games, you kind of see this all the time, when they release a new tech demo of what the underlying technology can do. but it takes at least a year or more for someone with a sense of story and/or art to turn the gee whiz into something you actually wanna use.
and i swear to god, tech types are always coming up with tech-centric ways to experience shit that NOBODY WANTS. so many times i have seen iterations of motion comics and no, people dont want motion comic books. they want GOOD STORIES WITH COOL ART. THAT SITS STILL.

another day with my mentions filled with liberals trying to have rational debates with conservatives and i dont know why so many of you do this. it doesnt work. maybe im just at the cynical point where i get this and you need the optimism ground out of you. it doesnt work.

i finally got around to seeing the movie battle los angeles last night. ive been meaning to see it since it first came out (12 yrs ago). on paper it had some cool ideas: ground level marines vs aliens. but in execution? shaky cam shaky cam end scene.
i know im in a big bayhem mood lately but when you watch movies like that and also battleship, it gives you an appreciation for - whatever criticisms - how good michael bay is at doing his very specific michael bay thing.
i would absolutely love a ground level marines vs aliens movie with the michael bay hero shots, drone shots, beautiful people, slimy aliens, epic scope -- all of it. thats the damn thing ill pay out the nose to go see at a movie theater, esp in the summer.

Everything conservatives are saying about transgender people right now they said about gay people 20 years ago and black and Latino people the years before that. Coming for the kids, sex obsessed, destroying the family. It’s always the same fucking bullshit.
It was literally just 14 years ago that Fox News was telling us gay marriage would lead to marriage with goats and ducks and dolphins. Now they’re saying rainbows at Target will make kids trans. ITS ALWAYS THE SAME DUMB BULLSHIT. mediamatters.org/fox-nation/ore…
I get frustrated at how so much of liberalism is focused on acting like these are perfectly sane and rational concerns on the right that we have to take into consideration. It’s dumbass bullshit and that’s how we should treat it.
